Isn’t Nature a Wonderful Thing | kaleandhearty

https://kaleandhearty.wordpress.com/2015/06/28/isnt-nature-a-wonderful-thing

Isn’t Nature a Wonderful Thing. June 28, 2015. Our annual BBQ is a time to take a welcome break from the weeding and catch up with fellow allotmenteers over a leisurely glass (or two) of Pimms and some delicious home grown fare. Stories of successes and failures were swapped back and forth with much talk about the problems of black fly on the broadbeans, lack of rain and the general lateness of summer, which seems to have set back growth by a good couple of weeks. Courgette and Orange Cake Anyone? August 7, 2015. Let the Great British Allotment Bake begin just three days to our allotment open day, so time to get baking! The tea and cake stall is always a highlight and this year I am experimenting with some different recipes to really show off the versatility of the produce from my plot. But if these are not to your liking, I’m also going to bake a coffee and walnut cake (my husband’s favourite), a classic Victoria sponge and a lemon drizzle cake. Thank you for a l...

Allotment Open Day 9 August 2015. July 26, 2015. This is a wonderful time of year on the allotment; the runner and French beans are scrambling up the poles, the raspberries and blackberries are slowly ripening in the sun, the cucumbers and courgettes are flowering their hearts out and my dahlias are providing bucket loads of magnificent saucer sized blooms for the house. We charge 3 entry (children are free) and 3 for tea and cake, but all money raised goes to support the National Gardens Scheme’s charit...
