Sunday, April 13, 2014. Workshop with Jacquie Gering. This month our guild had Jacquie Gering from Tall Prairie Grass Studio. As guest. What a speaker what an inspiration! As I was listening to her, even though we make different type quilts, we had similar experiences and inspirations along our quilting journeys. Above and below are two of her log cabin quilts, the colourful one was a tribute to Josef Albers. And his book Interaction of Color. (see my Albers' post. Still lots more to do!

Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Tutorial: Curved Bias Quilt Label. I've been sewing my brains out lately and it's time to catch up! Here is my new favourite way of making a quilt label. I've used it three times so far and I love the way it looks. Here's how. Cut a 1" wide strip of your label fabric on the true bias, and long enough to fit your label information plus a little extra on each end. Then, with the right side up, gently pull the strip into a curve while you press it with your iron. Attach your binding...

Niagara Heritage Quilters' Guild. History of the Guild. Monday, 26 January 2015. Wednesday Jan. 21st was our first meeting of 2015. Susan Bowslaugh and Paula Perri spoke about what judges look for in a juried show - basically things that you may want to consider working on even if you don't enter a quilt in a juried show. Then they worked in small groups with samples of Paula's first quilts and Susan clarifying some of the categories that you would find in the CQA/ACC National Juried Show. Also just befo...

sunlight in winter quilts: July 2016
http://sunlightinwinterquilts.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html
Sunlight in winter quilts. Friday, 29 July 2016. My goal for July was to finish my Rainbow Rose quilt top. I am sad to say that I will not accomplish this goal by the end of the month as Dwight and I are going away for the weekend. I probably wouldn't be able to get all that quilting done on time anyway. But no worries I'll just push this goal into August and hope to get around to quilting it then. As you can see, I did manage to get the borders on the quilt. Cat rolls on quilt. Notice how dirty he is.
