Final Offer: June 2014. I woke up at about 3am, checked my email and found an offer waiting for me inviting me to join the August A-100! I immediately replied, accepting the offer, breathed a sigh of relief, and tried to go back to sleep. Taiwan: January to May 2014. In February, after being at the District Attorney’s Office for a year, I left my position. During my time there, I had tried ten criminal cases and resolved hundreds more through negotiations. I felt good about the work that I had done and all that I learned. Last weekend, K and I went to Kaohsiung to visit K’s grandmother one more time. It was great to have the opportunity to see her again before we leave. I’m glad that during my time here, I’ve learned enough Mandarin that I can speak with her a bit. While we mostly laid low during this trip, we took a walk around the Lotus Pond in Kaohsiung’s Temple District early one morning. It was very peaceful and beautiful. After a few days of celebrating the offer, we were wondering what would happen now. Through July, we continued to explore Taiwan, but were much more relaxed.
