SIT Uganda: Development Studies. Things that make me Happy. I wanted to share these small pieces of joy that I experience here:. 1) All the children that welcome me home when I come home from school. They have so much joy in their souls and beautiful smiles. 2) The little black cat that I’ve befriended. My family doesn’t like it very much, but I think they are starting to warm up to it, I hope. 3) All the wonderful fruit; mangoes, pineapple, jackfruit, bananas, and passion fruit, yummy. SIT Uganda: Development Studies. To Be: Comfortable and Uncomfortable. I feel very comfortable being in Kampala and moving around. In one aspect I am happy about this because it means that I’m finally adjusting and understanding how to live in this semi-new environment and culture. Will I feel even more comfortable when I go home (at Seattle or Willamette), or will this home be tainted by my experiences here, that I will jump again into a state of being uncomfortable? This is a balance I hope to find.

Drinking Beer with Africans. We just sat and talked, and they pointed out the irony of me being in South Africa to study when I don’t even know so many things about my own country. I know that I some about the U.S. though, and we finally settled on that, but it did make me think. That’s what we say when we are really taken. ha). Love you. Bye.
