Sunday, March 16, 2008. Dec 9th, 2007 05:53 pm. A few of the guys showed up today, and here is the crew for today. Jason, Neil, Danos and Todd. In class today, we worked on the 8 count backcut flow. Then we isolated them into pairs.4 and 5, 5 and 6, 6 and 7, etc. We then applied the backcuts to targeting with a partner. We proceeded to practice the 4 diagonal cuts. 2 diagonal down, and then, 2 diagonal up. Followed that up with a partner, for practice. each applying the diagonal pattern. Chen Tai Chi blog.

Saturday, March 29, 2008. Bowies. Current Thoughts? Most of you know by now, that I LOVE my bowie knives. For the most part, bowie knives are designed and made today, influenced and shaped by the past, and most bowie knives are similar in shape, and creativity, and owe much to the times/ages during which the bowie knife came into prominence. the past, if you will. Traditionally, bowie knives were forged and were quite large and a variety of handle shapes were used. Can there be a "modern" equivalent?

Sunday, March 16, 2008. Dec 22nd, 2007 09:00 pm. Yesterday's session I thought went very well. In attendance were Scott, Todd, Ken and myself. We began the training with the 8 count backcutting pattern. This was done slowly first, and then we gradually built up speed with an increasing number of reps. Of course, we did this both on the right hand, and then the left hand sides. We next worked on combinations of the backcutting action. 1, and repeat 1. 1, then 2. 1, then 3. 1, then 4. Sunday, March 16, 2008. Fine Dexterity and bowie blade managment. Feb 17th, 2008 10:43 pm. Last week, I accidentally was sliced open on my pinky by one of my Striders. One second i'm thinking. hmmm, is this knife sharp enough? Next second, i'm managing a bleeding wound that would leave my DNA all over my apartment, lol. To answer that need, and revision in my thinking, I will ensure that my people spend additional time learning simpler but broader and stronger cuts relying upon less fine finger managemen...

Sunday, March 16, 2008. Dec 1st, 2007 08:00 pm. I feel bad. We had a session the other day, and I meant to write it up, but didn't and now, lol, I don't remember what we did. Anyway, today's session was a real blast. Todd brought over his ontario bowie, and said to me, "hey Guro, have any wood? Went into the garage and got a large heavy piece of wood. We spent alot of time, chopping, hacking, thrusting and backcutting into the wood. In attendance today, were, Todd, myself, Danos, Scott and Volant.

We began a quick review of the defensive and offensive blade flows.Following this, we progressed onto a few partner drills. 1-We did a sequence of reciprical flows from a top cut, to a drop in level thrust, followed by a strike to the right flank. The counters were 5,6,and 3. 3-From here, we proceeded to top cut, countered by a 5, and done in flow. Progressed that to a top cut, followed by a 6. The guys did really good.
