Map – A3. Fire is by far the greatest threat to the welfare of the Forest. Frequently, arson is severely affecting the ability of the flora and fauna to recuperate and successfully reproduce. Fire is damaging the bases of many large, hollow-bearing old growth trees which crash to the ground destroying valuable life supporting nooks, crannies, nests and homes for our precious wildlife. Hollow-dependant wildlife such as gliders, birds, bats and possums are declining in numbers as a result.

Wednesday, April 27, 2011. A storm that has made these the last photos my beloved camera (as she was) and I will take together in quite a while. I dropped her off at the repair shop this morning. Seems despite a snug fit down my front, fast running legs and desperately hunched shoulders one cannot keep a camera dry when several kilometers deep and just so slightly lost within a forest when a thunderstorm decides to hit. Our experiences after migration from The Netherlands to Brisbane in Australia. Laquo; Dust Storms in Brisbane, another extreme. After a strange winter with temperatures far above 30 degrees spring is now around the corner. Many many animals show up again looking for partners and/or places to live. Brush turkeys and regularly even a lace monitor climbs up to our garden to look around. Possums and Koalas are also very busy and many strange insects can be seen everywhere.
