201004.15 @ 21:11. Porch Swing: come on in and have a seat. On 2010.04.15 at 21:11. A year and a half ago, I got my book deal, four years ago last week, I started working on the book, nine years ago, I wrote a few short stories that were the seeds for some of the story lines in the book, and today it is released to the public! Then they had me go on the stage thing and sit in a very tall chair and hooked me up to a mic. The two anchors that I have watched for years had chairs next to mine. During...I jus...

Jama rattigans alphabet soup. A childrens writer offers food for thought and fine whining. A little adventure with sarah emma edmonds. Jun 21st, 2011 at 7:18 AM. It’s always fun and exciting when something you’ve read sparks your imagination and makes you want to learn more. I had heard of female Confederate spies, but knew very little about the ones spying for the Union army. Sarah Emma Edmonds Was a Great Pretender. Carolrhoda Books, 2011). Sarah Edmonds in female and male garb. I tried to imagine the ...

You Might Need a Myra - CROOKED PERFECT
http://lurban.livejournal.com/53558.html
Because small things matter. Powered by LiveJournal.com. You Might Need a Myra. Long ago, in a rental house a few miles from here, a young(er) picture book writer was having doubts. She had been encouraged to try her hand at novel writing - but novels seemed so LONG, so complicated, so impossible. The two struck a deal. Every Friday they would exchange words. Not a lot. Nothing daunting. Five hundred words. They made a vow. A pact. A blood oath (sans blood). And they kept it. A challenge you want to face?

Holly answers my question about plotting - volleypop. Holly answers my question about plotting. Oct 14th, 2009 07:43 pm. Http:/ x-think-twice.livejournal.com/. Interesting how how she writes the pitch so early in the process. 2009-10-15 06:44 pm (UTC). I took an online course on plotting the children's story with Margaret Sauers who advised me to write the story in a sentence before beginning. If you can't do that, you don't know your plot well enough. I think it was really great advice.

And...it's a DRAGON! - Methinks
http://writerjodimoore.livejournal.com/1548.html
Childrens books are hard-bound hugs. Mar 4th, 2011 at 11:07 PM. People often refer to a book launch as its “birth” day. To me, it’s more than just a cute reference. Each book has its own unique gestation period, where it grows and matures. Where it begins to form its own personality and character. The bones start to fuse, the heart begins to beat. You feel the joyous flutter with each minuscule change, totally enchanted as you watch your baby develop. Or was I in false labor? Breathe, she responded, as e...

SCBWI is Family - Methinks
http://writerjodimoore.livejournal.com/2074.html
Childrens books are hard-bound hugs. Feb 3rd, 2012 at 1:27 PM. Children’s writers are among the best people in the world. I always feel so pumped after an SCBWI. Conference. And this year’s New York experience was no different. Despite the fact that it’s been a week since the conference began, I am still inspired beyond words. You may think it’s because of all the jaw-dropping talent who delivered keynote speeches, like Chris Crutcher, Cassandra Clare and Kathryn Erskine. And you’d be right. Ndash; wonde...

Spring Break! - jennifer_d_g
http://jennifer-d-g.livejournal.com/37288.html
Mar 29th, 2010 at 1:47 PM. My solution: I'm squeezing in some good writing by waking up at five and having pure quiet time until about nine when J and A wander down for their breakfasts. Then we start our day together. Four hours of writing time everyday isn't too bad. 9 comments Leave a comment. Mar 29th, 2010 07:53 pm (UTC). That sounds like a great plan, Jennifer.
