Just another WordPress.com site. Interaction with homestay families. Bull;June 17, 2010 • Leave a Comment. I have been living in the Gale’s family for 3 weeks so far. Living in a homestay for such a long period of time is a new thing to me. I have to adapt to other people’s life which may be totally different from mine. I feel that they will slow down the pace when talking with me while they usually speak quite fast, with all the words chaining together. The Blue Mountains. The Heaven. On Wednesday last ...
Do you know what is courtesy? | Oy! Karen in Oz.
https://karenfong1230.wordpress.com/2010/06/25/do-you-know-what-is-courtesy
Just another WordPress.com site. Do you know what is courtesy? In these 5 weeks, I have encountered different kinds of Aussies. Most of them are good but some are quite rude. First of all, the car could right turn when the red light is on. When comparing to Canada, drivers in Oz will not give way to pedestrians. I think it is a kind of courtesy becuase a car must be stronger than a human. I think courtesy was trained when we were young. From what I observed so far, parents tolerate to a large extent ...

Just another WordPress.com site. English as an international language=Extinction of minority language? July 6, 2010. 8212; Esther She @ 5:37 am. In Eva’s last lecture, we learned about the differences between Aboriginal English and Australian English, which somehow mirrors the difference in viewing the world. As mentioned in previous entry, language can reflect the culture of the place. During the lesson, two examples were given which i think they are quite interesting to look at. Enter your comment here.

Just another WordPress.com site. Staying downunder: daily life July 3, 2010. 8212; Esther She @ 12:41 am. At the first few weeks, we made use of Thursday and do as much shopping as we can. Now, I am quite fed up with that. Things sold in different shopping centres or markets are just so similar and they are expensive! Things in Hong Kong are much cheaper and with a better quality. I better reserve my money for shopping in Hong Kong. Um….I would say Hong Kong is really a great city to live in.

What people are saying. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Karen. I lost a friend many years ago, and I was hoping that Karen could help her come through. We had a gathering with my friend’s family (daughter, sisters and brother, and former partner) as well as her best friends. Karen was able to bring my friends spirit though and help us all work through some unresolved feelings from her passing. Thank you, Karen, for your effort and care in your work. Carlisle MA Nov 2016.
