Karen and Ama visit Ghana

Karen and Ama visit Ghana. Sunday, April 25, 2010. Ama and I leave today, and I am very excited to go home, but at the same time a bit sad. We have had lots of fun here and really enjoyed our stay. Although I am looking forward to going home, there are many things we will miss. The people here are truly wonderful. I have met so many kind and helpful people in the past few months, and it will be an adjustment to leave that behind. There is just a different level of friendliness here than at home. From the...

Karen and Ama visit Ghana: Cape Coast and area

http://karengiven.blogspot.com/2010/04/cape-coast-and-area.html

Karen and Ama visit Ghana. Thursday, April 22, 2010. Cape Coast and area. The day after Pam arrived we packed up and headed to the beach, again at Ko-Sa. There we did a lot of relaxing, eating and drinking. We had a few coconuts from Fusani, a little boy who hangs out around the resort. Ama had tons of fun getting as filthy as possible, getting sand in places you wouldn't think possible. Karen and Ama visit Ghana: Fire (Mole) National Park

http://karengiven.blogspot.com/2010/04/fire-mole-national-park.html

Karen and Ama visit Ghana. Friday, April 23, 2010. Fire (Mole) National Park. At Mole we went on a couple of nature walks and saw tons of wildlife-elephants, baboons, patas and green monkeys, antelopes (or cantelope as Ama calls them), warthogs, crocodiles, birds, hyena poop, and various insects and lizards. Ama was thrilled with all the animals, particularly the elephants. When we had to leave them she cried and cried, it was pretty sad! We got swindled into going on a river safari, which I cannot recom...

Karen and Ama visit Ghana: December 2009

http://karengiven.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Karen and Ama visit Ghana. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. See you later Canada! In just under a week Ama and I will be temporarily saying goodbye to the freezer we call Alberta to spend 4 months in Ghana, West Africa. My wonderfully supportive mom will also be joining us for the first 5 weeks-Thanks Mom! When I gave my daughter a Ghanaian name 2 short years ago, I did not think that we would be visiting the country any time soon! Why am I going to Ghana? Amend works to prevent traffic related childhood inju...

Karen and Ama visit Ghana: Last Stop: Green Turtle Lodge

http://karengiven.blogspot.com/2010/04/last-stop-green-turtle-lodge.html

Karen and Ama visit Ghana. Sunday, April 25, 2010. Last Stop: Green Turtle Lodge. The trip from Mole to our last beach stop, Green Turtle Lodge, was a 3 day adventure. We went first to Tamale where we stayed in what might have been the dirtiest hotel in Ghana, the Christian Council Guesthouse. The walls were filthy, and the sheets could have been cleaner. The best part was the shower that was rotting-pretty sure that if you stepped on in you would fall through! At least it was only 1 night!
