Karen's Quilts: July 2015
http://karensquiltsfromcapetown.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Busy week on leave. Having a week off work with time for a knitting and a design workshop and a lecture with Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably is good for the soul. These classes were a concentration on colour and I am still on a high from them. The knitting class was on Monday, first picture was at lunch time - mine is the one at the bottom in the middle. I was using a lovely soft bamboo 4-ply yarn that unfortunately kept splitting and slowed me up a bit. Isn't his pullover gorgeous! We were able to buy t...
Karen's Quilts: House gone, and a beach visit.
http://karensquiltsfromcapetown.blogspot.com/2015/03/house-gone-and-beach-visit.html
House gone, and a beach visit. My mother continues to recover, and was even went on an all-day outing to Soetwater Reserve last Tuesday with a few of the more able frail-care residents. Almost no-one else there except us. But it was very windy! I thought that there was a general invitation to family members, but I was the only one besides the staff! But happy to have gone with Mum, and to assist a little. The staff were magnificent. Thank-you for visiting. What are you quilting right now? Hexagon paper-p...
Karen's Quilts: July 2014

Some sewing and sharing. I've been working on my Assignment 2 pieces, but don't want to show photos yet. I think I have completion phobia, as I get to "almost" finished and then put it aside! A couple of weeks ago I did a class with Sheila Walwyn. Although she is an experienced quilt artist, this was her first formal class, and she and the class were great. This is my piece in progress, have subsequently put all the pieces on, next to add some stitches with the new baby (see further! Links to this post.
Karen's Quilts: August 2014

Got my sewing fix. After having it for three weeks I finally got to plug in my new sewing machine and give it a test drive. I happened to be in the retailer's shop to collect the needle-threading part replacements for the Grand Quilters, and not being in a hurry asked them to show me what they had. Didn't like the models on the floor, so the Passport was brought out and I was really taken with the way it looked. And we test drove it with lots of discussion and it seemed to be a good machine. This is the ...
Karen's Quilts: Four Blocks for May Lotto
http://karensquiltsfromcapetown.blogspot.com/2015/05/four-blocks-for-may-lotto.html
Four Blocks for May Lotto. Four fairly simple to piece blocks, but had to keep my wits about the assembly order - only had to partly unsew one. The top photo doesn't show true colour, but the individual ones below are closer to the truth. I cut more strips than needed and ended up with a whole bunch of four-patch and nine-patch blocks from the leftovers - fun for future quilts, plus some wonky piecing. Thank-you for visiting. What are you quilting right now? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hexagon pa...

Karen's Quilts
Well February came and went, although plenty of sewing, not much picture taking. (I can see how lousy my stress levels are, in that I had to correct the spelling of every one of the words in that first sentence! I had planned to post yesterday being the end of February, but life does not run in straight lines. Links to this post. I have had a good start to 2018, sewing-wise! Then finished the Bonnie Hunter Mystery, On Ringo Lake, about 60" x 72". Well, I count a top to be finished, for now! And besides m...

Rainbow Gardens
Welcome to my crafty blog. a "garden" of colourful cards, quilting, sewing projects, knitting.and what ever else happens along the way! Thursday, March 30, 2017. I love coordinat ing tags, paper and embell ishments. Sometimes gifts can be difficult to wrap in a traditional way - an odd size or shape means that you have to think 'outside the box' to make it work. I created a trio of gift wraps for my sister-in-law's birthday gifts,. Stamps, along with a simple white bag and. The Pillow Box die. Daughter-i...
