We found dock leaves for our stings and collected colours for our cards. We found butterflies circling one another in a type of dance and looked at the monkey puzzle tree.Some of us wanted to whittle and others wanted to climb trees. East Lothian Forest School Blog. SELF ORGANISED WEDNESDAY FAMILY GROUP AT YELLOWCRAIGS. We met for the first of six sessions with families at yellowcraigs. We looked for materials for making a picture and then we had fun at the different stations we had in the woods. We had fun playing with mud and lots of water and liked pouring water from different pots to bowls. We also liked the self made swing we managed to put up. OCTOBER SESSION AT YELLOWCRAIG BEACH. East Lothian Forest School Blog. PORTOBELLO FOREST SCHOOL CLUB APRIL 2013. T oday we made marshmallow sticks, tried to use the shave horse for our wood that we will make into Mallets. We used saws, knifes,a drawknife on the shavehorse and an axe.We made a tiny fire in our kellykettle to rast our marshmallows. It then started to hail and we had fun chasing each other round with hail snowballs! Andi's son showed us how to strike a flint to make sparks for the fire. It was very hard to do. We also tried using knifes and potato peelers for people who were new today. We learnt new rules about fires and how to be safe around them.
