What I also learnt is that there are both formal and informal sources, and therefore different means of accessing finance. Formal being your banks, credit unions, MFIs, and informal being moneylenders, neighbours, relatives and local savings groups. (Maguire and Conroy, 2001). Does microfinance further perpetuate indebtedness of the poor? Or does microfinance help to reduce poverty? Vientiane, Lao PDR.
