We hoped she would hang on until Thanksgiving,. But we knew it was doubtful. Granma was the last matriarch in my family. Being that mom died when I was 19. My Granma Hagen died 11 years ago. Granma Furne was it. I am thankful that I have many aunts still. But "my" blood matriarchs are gone. I am thankful that she is no longer in pain. Free to be me!

Do you remember when you wanted to get older, go to college, get married, have babies, etc. and your parents would say it will happen quicker than you think? I remember not believing my mother when she would say that. I say that to my kids all the time! And I have learned that it is true. We went to see fireworks and it was good.
