Ash Lane Farm: May 2012
http://cpthegreat.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Today is the day! Well, children, did you remember? Today is the traditional, original “Decoration Day.”. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war). And there are picnics and fun times, but how many truly remember those who have died? Monday, May 28, 2012. It is NOT today! Yes, I have...

Ash Lane Farm: January 2013

Sunday, January 20, 2013. And now for some exciting news! I have been waiting (and waiting and waiting) to tell the world the news that I am going to be a grandma, again! Jill, my baby, is going to have a baby! Now, she and Eric have been married for over 14 years, so this has been very unexpected! I would have gone crazy (crazier? If I couldn’t talk about this exciting, blessed event. Here is how they announced it on FaceBook. And if it’s on FB, it’s official, right? Coming July 26, 2013. It’s coo...

Ash Lane Farm: Charles

Friday, February 08, 2013. It was 67 years ago today that I was given a wonderful present. Now, I don’t remember the very beginning, but I was given a baby brother who was to remain by my side, for better or worse for many, many years. But not long enough! When we were 12 and 10, someone asked why we spent so much time together. I said “We’re twins! 8221; Charles and I use that story again while in high school just for the fun of it. We stayed close from the time he was born until the time that he died&#...

Sunday, June 24, 2012. Welcome to the Victorian Tea. On Thursday, Jody called and asked me if I really wanted to go. I told her I’d rather spend time just visiting with her. Thank goodness the Tea was a free-will offering, so we didn’t lose any money by not going! This was MUCH better than spending time at a tea, don’t you think? And I have puppy pictures for you . get your drool towels ready and your “Ahhh” voices ready! One week old . Skye and Berlin are checking him out. Nice warm room for them. Bitty...

Ash Lane Farm: November 2012

Monday, November 19, 2012. Last Wednesday was the monthly visit to Mankato for my sister and I. We live an hour and an half from the closest “cheap” stores. Mankato and Marshall have Walmart and great grocery stores, but only Mankato has a Sam's Club. And it’s got a great pet store. Our closest stores are: fifteen minutes to a so-so-price store and half an hour to a little-bit-better store. Lunch is a fun time. We have so many choices for eating. Sometimes we splurge and go to Olive Garden; once ...In ou...

Ash Lane Farm: July 2012
http://cpthegreat.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Today's picture is of Joy, Jill and Cookie . this was taken late 70s, early 80s at our place. You can see the rolling prairie behind the girls and it was probably in July or August because the grass is dry and turning brown. When I was growing up, one of my favorite books was "Cocoalo Comes to America," about a young boy and his donkey that came to America from a war-torn island in Italy or Greece. Joy is holding Cocoalo, Jill is beside him and Cookie is the lucky one on his back.
