http://poetr1x.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

And while I'm worried about money - I'm giving up about a third of my income and will be working way more hours - I'm really glad to be coming back to teaching. First and foremost because I have a poetry workshop. And Strand and Boland's The Making of a Poem. And: you guys I'm gonna be a poetry teacher again! Less than you do on your worst week, how does that sound? Woman of words,...

A defense of the beautiful and broken. Poetry, poetics, academia, writing, not writing, occasional frivolities, and Buffalo. We have so much in common. I ran out on Saturday, and yesterday, I was definitely irritable and short-tempered all day, for no specific reason. Today, I'm feeling fragile and overwhelmed and vulnerable and really, really sad, plus irritable (! Is there more I should be trying to get out of myself? Who has two thumbs and is living proof that intelligent design is a load of horseshit?

A defense of the beautiful and broken. Poetry, poetics, academia, writing, not writing, occasional frivolities, and Buffalo. My hand to everything I care about, if someone ever invents Clockwork Orange-style conditioning that works, I'm going to sign up and have everything about me that isn't work destroyed. The yield of my efforts in every other arena is nothing but shame and failure and fucking up and being used and rejected. But I am a good teacher and a decent writer. A defense of the beautiful and broken. Poetry, poetics, academia, writing, not writing, occasional frivolities, and Buffalo. Five years ago just about this time of year, I was practicing singing "When You Wish upon a Star" so I could sing it to someone while we watched the Perseid meteor shower. This never happened. I never even got to ask him to go watch it with me. I haven't watched meteors at all since I was a kid sitting up late with my dad. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. 3/1/1...
