The Karoo veld consists of small hardy desert bushes, with a very strong taste and aroma. The meat of the sheep eating these bushes has a unique taste which makes it a sought-after gourmet delicacy. The KDF registered the Karoo meat brand, and Government published regulations around the use of this brand. Only certified Karoo farmers are now allowed to use the Karoo Lamb label.
