Repost from notgoddess.com. Since no one reads that and I need some input]. This morning I was dropping them at the sitter and 'Mom' was mentioned. As carefully as I could I asked, "You mean K- -? I was half an hour late for work because I broke down a couple blocks away and bawled my eyes out. Despite the one son's statement ...

Bocal Soup: January 2009
http://bocalsoup.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Where music meets carpentry. Saturday, January 10, 2009. That's not MY bocal. don't you understand? That will never be the right bocal! About a month ago, my friend spilled her bassoon out onto the floor from about waist level. Twice now, I've had very vivid dreams of calamity befalling my beloved bassoon. I stayed in bed an extra 45 minutes trying to sleep my way to a resolution on that one. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Thats not MY bocal. dont you understand? Bocal Soup: December 2007
http://bocalsoup.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Where music meets carpentry. Sunday, December 16, 2007. I stumbled across an excellent book in the University's music library the other day called "Making Music" and was written by sports-writer John T. Partington. He interviewed principal players in a leading Canadian orchestra about their performance processes and gave them all (mostly) anonymous names. I highly recommend the book if you're at all into this side of the classical music business. A few excerpts that struck me:. Friday, December 07, 2007.

Bocal Soup: October 2009
http://bocalsoup.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Where music meets carpentry. Sunday, October 11, 2009. I smashed my hand this week with my bassoon. Unfortunately, I also smashed my bassoon with the floor. Except for its horrific appearance, the damage was shockingly minor and it still plays beautifully. And "My poor bassoon, I'm so sorry bassoon! Blubber blubber sob blubber blubber* WAAAHHH! But I'll never admit I was anything other than the coolest of cool cucumbers. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Reed tuning basics advice.

Where music meets carpentry. Saturday, May 17, 2008. The gig I'm playing in tomorrow was in the paper yesterday. Their photographer had taken a picture of the winds through the strings of the harp that I really wanted to see, but it wasn't used. I wonder if there's any way to see the picture? Anyway, here's the link :). Http:/ www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/239160.php. OH, and the Tucson Symphony just auditioned for 3rd bassoon/contra. My very talented friend won the audition! http://bocalsoup.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Where music meets carpentry. Saturday, July 26, 2008. What I want is to be really damn good. I want to play a piece and be happy about how I've played it, and how it has sounded on the other end. I want to move people's souls and have a riot of a good time while I'm doing it. Anything less is a waste of everyone's time and the last thing I want out of all of this is to waste anyone's time. Fork in the road - The Long Road. Fork in the road. The Grey Mage @}-`- .- -. Fork in the road. Oct 13th, 2007 @ 11:03 am. Well, I didn't get the QA analyst position, but as many of you already know I will be starting another job this Wednesday :) I was offered and accepted a position as a Web Developer at a firm downtown. There's a pay raise involved (above and beyond the increased expense of working downtown, yay) and most importantly, I'll finally be doing what I love full-time! Is that too many!
