In which I disscuss my crafty pursuits, some random stories, and a sweet cocker spaniel named Penny. Finish It Up Friday: Auction Quilt (& Silent Auction)! Sorry for the long hiatus. Due to some personal stuff, I haven’t been posting and commenting in awhile. Nothing major, and certainly no cause for alarm, but my life suddenly got busy. Sometimes something has to give and in this case it was the blog. But everything should be good now and I should be back for awhile. Hooray! And I’ve been sewing! Time b...

Wandering Geese – A Work in Progress | Farmer in the Vale
https://www.farmerinthevale.com/wordpress/wandering-geese-a-work-in-progress
Wandering Geese – A Work in Progress. April 23, 2014. April 30, 2014. This wacky variation of flying geese would make a great border. So far I only have about 6 inches sewn. I think I will transform this pattern into one of my monthly table runners. I wanted to make my geese wander around but I didn’t want to fuss with paper piecing. Luckily I have plenty of stash fabric to play with! Next I matched up my accent triangles with the strips to create my final strip (see photo). Laying everything out was...

I love the idea of paying it forward. When I found that. Kat @ Kat and Cat Quilts. Has a project called Covered in Love. I immediately wanted to participate. Each month,...

Lectures & Workshops. Sweetly Gifted by Cindy Needham! July 16, 2015 By [email protected]. Last month I was gifted a beautiful society silk piece by Cindy Needham. She was letting go of a few linens and asked if I would like one. How could I refuse an offer like that? I love this squishy kind of mail! I was determined to get it quilted and not let it get lost in my mound of linens. I hold a long arm ruler, any straight edge you like, next to the foot with my left hand, while guiding the machine with my r...

http://www.carryingsunshine.com/2/post/2013/10/the-stars-are-complete.html
The Stars are complete! It has been a long, long journey for this quilt. It was the project that I took with on our 47 day RV trip this summer. The fabric was cut before we left and I was hoping to have a completed quilt top when we turned. Well, of course things did not quite work out that way! I will spare you the details of pattern errors and such, but just know, I was determined to finish this one and not be defeated! I just fell in love! This quilt is superb! Well I for one LOVE it! Welcome to Carry...

Feathers, and pebbles, and triangles, oh my! – Smiles Too Loudly
https://smilestooloudly.wordpress.com/2015/07/29/feathers-and-pebbles-and-triangles-oh-my
WIPs – The List. Feathers, and pebbles, and triangles, oh my! July 29, 2015. A few days ago, I had this quilt basted. And ready to go. Since then, I’ve scoured the internet, and your comments, for new free motion quilting designs to try out. It was a real hardship to look at beautiful quilts, over and over. Of course there was going to be a feather. Just under half of the quilt is done at this point… hopefully I can come up with enough ideas! And bought another yard of it. True love right there. I love w...

Scrap Vortex Quilt and Final Harry Potter Block | Crafty Tokyo Mama II
https://craftytokyomama2.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/scrap-vortex-quilt-and-final-harry-potter-block
Crafty Tokyo Mama II. Sewing and exploring in Kyoto. Scrap Vortex Quilt and Final Harry Potter Block. A friend recommended a new website to me and I immediately sewed up a couple of their bowl covers. I think these will be very handy for covering bowls of fruit and such instead of saran wrap. My scrap vortex quilt is done! One thing I learned: don’t use scraps thinner than about 1.5 inches or else they sew or are trimmed down to nubbins. Here are the marines at Iwojima…. 8230;and here are their legs.

Finished! – Woodsy Baby Blanket – Smiles Too Loudly
https://smilestooloudly.wordpress.com/2014/04/18/finished-woodsy-baby-blanket
WIPs – The List. 8211; Woodsy Baby Blanket. April 18, 2014. And I have a finish I’ve been sitting on for awhile (not literally though). It’s a baby blanket, and I wanted to gift it before I shared, just in case she found her way to this little space of the internet. I started with a few prints from Sweet as Honey, from, of course you guessed it, Franklin Mill. Pin basting – so fun! I bound it using Wasn’t Quilt in a Day’s. Overall, I think it was received well. Lots of ooooh’s and awwwww’s. WIP – t...
