I am a textile artist living and working in Oxford. I am an inveterate collector; a snapper up of unconsidered trifles. A bottle of sand from Petra, old books, clock parts, a stuffed crow line the shelves of my studio. But textiles form the basis of my practice. Quilts; stitched, painted and acid etched often tell stories, embellished with found. Nothing is sacred everything is precious. Stitch Odyssey - Graham Sutherland Gallery, Wales - 2001. Never used this so wa...

http://shabbydandelion.blogspot.com/2015/08/ideas-and-inspiration.html
Sunday, 9 August 2015. Get a cup of your favourite tipple, this is a long post with lots of links! So where do ideas and inspiration come from? Is it images, is it techniques, is it other artists, emotions, the need to say "something" themes or challenges? What ever it is there is plenty out there and sometimes there is none to be found and no matter how much "stuff" (paper, fabric, yarn, paint, stamps .) you have, they stay unused or whatever you do make you don't like and it gets discarded. Exhibitions...
