MLK day in Romo - Adventuers of an American Vagabond. Life is calling, how far will you go? MLK day in Romo. Coming from a different culture with different beliefs and traditions often means I celebrate different holidays than my co-workers and students. I always like to try and teach something about home to the kids. This past Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and I thought that was a perfect topic for a cross-cultural lesson plan. I write the vocab words on the board and start to explain them.

I have been in Romania now for about 1 year and 3 months, or about 63 weeks, or 442 days now (wow, that was some quick mental math! For all but the first ten of those weeks I had the awesome chance to have wonderful sitemates, Allan and Autumn Henderson. The possibilities are endless. Plus, look at all the cool places I get to go to now to visit my friends.

Gone - Adventuers of an American Vagabond. Life is calling, how far will you go? On a much happier note: WELCOME TO THE WORLD ETHAN MITCHELL McQUEEN! The fourth of July is a great birtday, and when I get home you and I are going to have a blast! Remember, I'm the cool Aunt Kate. Your biological Aunt Kate is.well, not as cool. I send really weird presents from really random places! Who got you that 3-headed dragon from Prague? Bretta or Ryan, read this to him; I'm sure a nine-day-old baby can't read yet.

John goes to Romania. Seeing the world, making friends, and helping out, all on Uncle Sam's dime. Monday, May 22, 2006. Not in Texas Anymore. It is hard for me to believe that I have only been gone a little over a week; it seems more like a month. I have to concentrate to think back on my weekly routine before quitting Handango, and then leaving for the Peace Corps. It mainly consisted of getting up, going to work, watching TV, spending time with friends and going to sleep. It’s not good. There are many ...

John goes to Romania. Seeing the world, making friends, and helping out, all on Uncle Sam's dime. Monday, January 08, 2007. The Great European Vacation - Part 1. I returned from one of the best vacations of my life late last week. In taking it I had the chance to fulfill a dream of mine, to see. Truth be told I have a little confession to make. When I found out that I would be serving in. Not all of my thoughts were altruistic. I would be finally traveling to. I got to do just that. Just blocks away was ...

John goes to Romania. Seeing the world, making friends, and helping out, all on Uncle Sam's dime. Saturday, June 03, 2006. A Long Overdue Update. When I came over here I had a goal of updating my blog once a week and letting yall know what is going with me. When you last heard from me I was stuck in an elevator in Mayors Office here in. I am happy to say that I got out of that elevator and have even ventured (hesitantly) into another couple of elevators since then. So what are you up to? I have no clue w...

Kate in Quito
Thursday, 20 December 2007. The dream is drum. La Paz has stolen my heart and my breath away in one fell swoop and although I wrote that the last blog entry was my last one, it wouldn't be right to leave it without some comment on this incredible city. Tuesday, 18 December 2007. Incas, deadly snakes and one big lake. So here I am now in Puno, a slightly drab and uneventful city on the shore of Lake Titicaca and the perfect place to catch up on my rather neglected blog. Thursday, 6 December 2007. Pisco is...

Saturday, July 26, 2008. This will be my last entry into this blog. I started it when I joined the PC to talk about my experiences here. My life in the Peace Corps is, to be perfectly honest, is kind of boring. On some weekends I go visit a friend in a different city, or have a friend come visit me. kate in sf | Just another WordPress.com site
Just another WordPress.com site. May 31, 2010. So, I’ve been pondering the possibility of posting my thoughts for a couple of years now. But, well, I don’t like to do things that are trendy, generally speaking. Then again, I did buy an iPhone last year. But I swear, I waited at least two years to do it. Who am I? The girl who waits two years to catch up with the world, apparently. Anyhoo, lately I’ve been thinking:. 1) When I first moved to SF ten (10! 5) I secretly want to be trendy. My brother has entr...

This one time, I decided to become a derby bada$ . Rambo's Quick n' Dirty. New metal and a healing fissure. I'm six weeks post surgery number FOUR to once again reconstruct and attempt to heal my Sept. 6, 2011 derby-caused ankle break/massacre. Maybe you have, but I want to throw my opinion in the mix, as this is likely my only way of finding personal meaning in an unfortunate...
