Kate's Art Ed blog: Read and Respond

http://katesartedblog.blogspot.com/2013/10/read-and-respond.html

Kate's Art Ed blog. Monday, October 14, 2013. My first thoughts when reading about the digital citizen are that a digital citizen is probably a bizarre concept to many young people as they do not seem to separate the digital world from the physical world. Kate's Art Ed blog. Thursday, June 13, 2013. Blog Post 9 - Empathy. Empathy is the ability to imagine yourself in someone else's position and to intuit what that person is feeling." That is a nice definition. I was also intrigued by Pink's statement that empathy is not "feeling bad. Someone else. It is feeling. When companies crumble and all the employees are left in the dust, the country often empathizes with the employees left behind. Would businesses be more successful if they invested more time a...

Katie's Art Education Blog: Protest

http://katiearteducation7.blogspot.com/2013/03/protest.html

Katie's Art Education Blog. Friday, March 8, 2013. Satirical protest art is the way my art could more likely take. While I have never done anything political, I could see myself making satirical art about the about standards that our country has, that most people do not even seem to realize, or how one small different can change a whole meaning; or the idea of the “other side” of American and how most of the American public actually lives? Katie's Art Education Blog. Thursday, April 25, 2013. My creativity has also helped me reach students at the before and after school program where I’m employed. I have had thoughtful and outstanding host teachers throughout my years as a pre-service teacher. They have been remarkably influential in discovering my philosophy as an artist and teacher. I believe, first and foremost, that teaching visual art takes a true passion and dedication to one’s work. As Scott Adam an American cartoonist states,.

Katie's Art Education Blog: March 2013

http://katiearteducation7.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Katie's Art Education Blog. Thursday, March 14, 2013. A narrative tells a story, whether if it’s a book or a painting. During the Renaissance, narrative paintings, mostly religious based, were being created. As Bird states, they “usually either present a new slant on a story already familiar…or employ well-established visual conventions to an unfamiliar story”. What if my students look a story they wrote from class and turned it the “climatic moment” of their story into a drawing or painting? My students...

Katie's Art Education Blog: January 2013

http://katiearteducation7.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Katie's Art Education Blog. Tuesday, January 29, 2013. It's the thought that counts". While I would love to think that all of my art is conceptual, but some of it is simple experimental artistic mark making. But I can apply concepts many different ways, like my idea of creation and destruction of architecture and the print itself. What if I made nonrepresentational palette knife oil paintings where I would paint and carve away with the knives showing absence versus presence? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Katie's Art Education Blog: Icon

http://katiearteducation7.blogspot.com/2013/03/icon.html

Katie's Art Education Blog. Friday, March 8, 2013. I see myself taking more of the Warhol approach to icons in post-modern art. I could stretch the idea of the iconic American dream through architectural prints. What about the idea of iconic people thrown into a more realistic American setting? Or iconic images as seen in other countries? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). People I love to Followers. View my complete profile. An Artist to Artist Teachers Journey. Having a background in printmaking I am naturally drawn to this genre of art. Actually, sitting her thinking about it may be partially why I love high contrast and be some of the roots of how I work with charcoal. Anyway, Well balances and the darkness of the interior although has tension in it, for me, also invites curiosity and a desire to go inside. Well done!

Katie's Art Education Blog: Personal As Political

http://katiearteducation7.blogspot.com/2013/03/personal-as-political.html

Katie's Art Education Blog. Friday, March 8, 2013. I have really struggled with the idea of how to use “personal as political” in my own artwork. I could see my students picking a political topic and researching it, then later applying that topic to themselves and their artwork. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). People I love to Followers. Katie's Art Education Blog: Documentary

http://katiearteducation7.blogspot.com/2013/03/narrative.html

Katie's Art Education Blog. Thursday, March 14, 2013. As Bird states, documentaries are never neutral. Some are stronger than others, but they are always pushing toward some agenda. Photography and film conquered the twentieth-century with their connections with a larger topic or idea. They also often capture facts and events, during or sometimes after the event. Katie's Art Education Blog. Friday, April 12, 2013. Use Mistakes to Guide Thinking (High):. Pursue New Possibilities (Low):. I found this low on my art capacities reflection, which I found interesting. I never thought of myself as one who stayed in my artistic bubble comfort zone, but I do. Now I have become more aware of it, hopefully I will be able to expand and explore new possibilities in art and art making. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). People I love to Followers.
