Sculptures By The Sea 2015 – K & T
https://kathrynandtim.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/sculptures-by-the-sea-2015
March 23, 2015. By K & T. Sculptures By The Sea 2015. Just a few photos of our Sunday at Cottesloe Beach the other weekend. Every year they host Sculptures By the Sea. We haven’t made it out to the event since we moved here, until this year. Unfortunately, we had to go on the weekend with a thousand other people, but it was still nice to see some of the Sculptures and spend time on the beach. I should note that there were signs everywhere that said don’t touch the art…. This one was beautiful. 3 thoughts...
What I do in the Pilbara – K & T
https://kathrynandtim.wordpress.com/2012/02/19/what-i-do-in-the-pilbara
February 19, 2012. By K & T. What I do in the Pilbara. It’s been close to 4 months since we moved to Australia, and I suppose many of you are wondering what it is exactly that I do here. Why does Rio Tinto send me out into the middle of nowhere anyway? Typical logging set-up, on the back of the ute (pronounced 'yoot', as in utility vehicle); featuring a fellow Canadian geo! An RC rig, set up and drilling. RC (reverse circulation) drilling. Here’s a close up of our typical logging set up:. The last essent...
May 2015 – K & T
https://kathrynandtim.wordpress.com/2015/05
May 28, 2015. By K & T. Running and Mental Health. I wrote this post back in March and never published it. I am still exercising regularly but not running as often due to Tim being away and it being dark and cold in the mornings, but the words I wrote still ring true today.* * *. It’s nothing new that exercise benefits us mentally, a quick Google search will tell you that. Why do so many of us live sedentary lives though, and as a result suffer from depression or feeling “low”? At least part of it? This ...

Spinach and Feta Quiche. Lentil Brown Rice Casserole. Spinach Salad with Tortellini. Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables. Italian Sausage and Veggie Bake. Jamie Oliver’s Beef Stew. Seriously the most flavourful and delicious beef stew – great to serve a crowd! Rosemary Raisin Pecan Crisps (Raincoast Crisps). Or Better Rhubarb Muffins. 8211; This recipe is my favourite so far! I normally half the recipe and I add olive oil to make it a nice consistency and flavour. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
Treading Lightly – K & T
https://kathrynandtim.wordpress.com/treading-lightly
Over the past few years Tim and I have made some lifestyle changes so that we could tread more lightly on the earth, and therefore leave less of a negative impact for future generations to deal with. Here’s what we do, and we’re always looking for new ideas! Before we had Eden we knew that we were going to use cloth. We scoured kijiji. Has a few posts on cloth diapering you should check out, here. They’re much cheaper. Eden at 5 months wearing a Thirsties diaper. We’ve been using soapnuts for almos...

Warmth from the Hearth: Appa (lay-shun) or Appa (latch-chian)???
http://warmthfromthehearth.blogspot.com/2015/06/appa-lay-shun-or-appa-latch-chian.html
Warmth from the Hearth. Into all lives, in many simple, familiar, homely ways, God infuses this element of joy from the surprises of life, which unexpectedly brighten our days and fill our eyes with light. Samuel Longfellow. Monday, June 29, 2015. Appa (lay-shun) or Appa (latch-chian)? Not sure whether there is a story behind this name or not, but there were lots of vertical cliffs where one could leap if the motive was there). The temperature was low 90s with extreme humidity and with an elevation g...

Samuel Longfellow. Wednesday, June 3, 2015. A s we enter the US, a large field where they are clearing rocks to accommodate blueberry fields. Tacky Bar Harbour sidewalk art (and their ice-cream cones were $6.). A lit up moose on the top of a house (more tackiness). A light lunch in Northeast Harbour.
Gourmet Mommy: March 2011
http://vail-family.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 28, 2011. On youtube, I felt pretty confident that I could try it. And you know what? What world of delicious vegetables am I missing out on? I'm going to make more of an effort, especially once the farmers markets are open for the summer, to try some different things that I might not have thought of before. After supper tonight I had a serious craving for ice cream (which is why I don't keep it in the house! Whole Wheat Yogurt Pancakes. 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt. 1 1/2 tsp baking soda. On to...
Gourmet Mommy: November 2011
http://vail-family.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 22, 2011. It was good news and it was bad news. The good news was that I figured out one of the major triggers of the migraines that I have been battling for years. The bad news? You can all weep for me here. It wouldn't be so bad if it were just an additive or preservative commonly used in chocolate, but no, it's the cocoa itself that seems to be the problem. That means my favourite healthy chocolate fudge. I loved the good. I'm allergic to two things: strawberries and chocolate. I too...
Gourmet Mommy: John Amos Vail
http://vail-family.blogspot.com/2013/08/john-amos-vail.html
Saturday, August 24, 2013. In my long absence from this blog, this happened. So then, naturally, this happened. A couple minutes old. Our third boy entered our family and our lives, and he's already four months old! We named him John Amos, although he is going by Amos. John is after Cory's dad, whose name is John Barry but has gone by Barry his whole life. Amos is just because we liked it! I wanted to sketch out the story of his birth before it fades from my mind (as it already is! I had the best. I reme...

Thursday, March 8, 2012. Asian [Inspired] Noodle Soup. I insert the "inspired" into the recipe title to acknowledge that there is probably nothing whatsoever authentic about this soup recipe - I completely made it up out of Asian-type ingredients in my cupboard. It was one of those meals that turns out so well you just have. To write it down so you can remember what you did and repeat it! Lots of bone broth, garlic, mushrooms, spices and veggies. This soup is all that and more, plus it was delicious!
Gourmet Mommy: July 2011
http://vail-family.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 21, 2011. Today is my birthday! So that's a good excuse for why I ate out three times. My beloved is working the night shift right now, so in the morning as I was whipping up our healthy breakfast smoothie, he called and told me he was bringing me breakfast. Yum! We went to Pizza Delight because it has an "eat free on your birthday" program so we go there to celebrate every year. So lunch was a panzarotti (spelling? Guess what the one thing I forgot to buy was. We'll have to pick some up o...

Into all lives, in many simple, familiar, homely ways, God infuses this element of joy from the surprises of life, which unexpectedly brighten our days and fill our eyes with light. Samuel Longfellow. Monday, September 22, 2014. For the first time. These photos will give you an idea of our weekend together. We began our weekend touring the Alexander Graham Bell museum in Baddeck. After viewing his many inventions, we were convinced he really didn't sleep much! Fourth hike was Beul...

Kathryn Angela Davis and 'The Way International'
Kathryn Angela Davis and 'The Way International'. Thursday, June 4, 2015. Why I don't think of Kathryn as a Monster. I might also add that, after I cut off contact before I even knew I was pregnant, the cigarettes that seemed to ease my anxiety started giving me headaches and I quit. The alcohol that I had fun with, stopped seeming so important, after I quit that the people i drank with stopped talking to me. Why? Why I dont think of Kathryn as a Monster. Awesome Inc. template. K & T | Life Adventures
K and T Life Adventures. June 16, 2015. By K and T. Personal Training … and Hope? So I had my first ever Personal Training (PT) session the other day. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while since I’ve been going to the gym and attending classes regularly. I feel pretty lost on the gym floor with probably at least 50% of the equipment completely foreign to me. I feel silly going up and reading the instructions on how to use it (insecure much? That basically turns the fitness industry on its h...

The Packs
Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Over a year has gone by since my last blog post. It is shameful! I still enjoy reading everyone else's blogs, but I just have been lazy when it comes to blogging. With baby Abby due in just 45 days, I figured now would be a good time to start back. I want to be able to journal her life with pictures and share what is going on with friends and family that we don't get to see as often. It is so much fun to be showered with things for her! Erin is due June 2nd, I'm due April 18th, Je...
