A small window into what's going on in there. Friday, August 7, 2015. Fiber Arts Friday: County Fair. The I entered two yarns into our local county fair this year. A single from one of our alpacas. And a single of silk. That I spun from purchased roving. Both yarns were finished this spring. We went to the opening day of the fair last Friday. I was joking with Hubba, telling him that we needed to go see my ribbons. Then, from a distance, I saw this. Both yarns received nice comments from the judge. Tibet...

Ally B...that's Me!: March 2014
http://allybthatsme.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Ally B.that's Me! Fiber Arts, Family and LittleDog. Friday, March 14, 2014. I knit another hat. And the model was so stinking cute I can hardly stand it. What do you think? This project is one of those that everyone wants one. I'm making slow progress on a baby blanket with a Dragon Skin stitch pattern. LittleDog had a trip to the vet to see about a UTI and is doing much better a couple days into the ridiculously expensive antibiotics. And in a gathering at Natural Suburbia. Thanks for stopping in. I'm r...

Regardless, I haven't forgotten that some folks like to check up on me so here goes. If you enjoy this post you might be interested in others on the Fiber Arts Friday. There has been a lot of knitting. Basic socks for The Saint (size 13!

Ally B.that's Me! Fiber Arts, Family and LittleDog. Friday, January 10, 2014. I've got some catching up to do. Whoa, it's been a while since I posted here. Seems as though Spinzilla must have killed me. No, not exactly, but it was a near death experience for my shoulder. How've you all been? I need to get out and do some blog visiting this weekend. Judging by the weather forecast I should have plenty of time to do it. Rain on all this snow is going to make for some rough travel this weekend. We've been t...

http://allybthatsme.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Ally B.that's Me! Fiber Arts, Family and LittleDog. Friday, February 28, 2014. With a little encouragement. I'm putting this post together. Thanks Vivian for giving me a push. I think that since I post pics of the stuff I'm working on over on FB and Instagram that you'll all be tired of seeing my stuff. True? Please let me know if you still like to see it here. He decided he needed to guard the pile-o-socks that was waiting to go in the laundry. Would you attempt to take a sock from this dog? Simple temp...

City garden country garden. Slow Living Journal - March to June 2015. It was so lovely today to receive a message on my last blog post from Linda at Greenhaven. Just checking in, given it's been so long since I last did a post. Thanks for your thoughts Linda. All is good here, just not so much slow living going on at the moment! We have calculated that next year we need to harvest 78kg to make enough for one bottle each per week for the year. One of the highlights of the last few months was a trip to NZ&...

city garden country garden: Making Cider
https://citygardencountrygarden.blogspot.com/2015/07/making-cider.html
City garden country garden. In my last blog post I wrote about one way of using lots of apples when you have a glut: make apple cider. My friend E and I had investigated lots of recipes but most seemed very complicated and needed lots of equipment or time. Then I read Sally Wise's book A Year on the Farm. And came across a recipe in it that seemed ridiculously simple, so we decided to give it a go (thanks E for the photos! How simple is that? But all of that starts to take away from the reason we chose t...

city garden country garden: Country Garden Glut and Being Distracted
https://citygardencountrygarden.blogspot.com/2015/02/country-garden-glut-and-being-distracted.html
City garden country garden. Country Garden Glut and Being Distracted. The email from my aunt arrived with a hint of desperation to it: "Please come up this weekend, even if it's hot and all you do is pick some of the tomatoes, capsicums, squash, eggplants.". The last couple of weekends I've been distracted from the Country Garden by a country show. I stopped picking when I filled two eskies and the temperature reached 36 degrees. And here's why I wasn't gardening last week. City garden country garden.

There's a Hole in the Bucket
There's a Hole in the Bucket. One woman's attempt to wade through all of lifes little ironies. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. I think I can't. So, here it goes. Why is it some people have this gene. this force. that prevents them from ever saying no! Not only can they not say "no", they are constantly coming up with other things to volunteer themselves for, even though no-one asked them to in the first place. I wonder why we are killing ourselves, one little word at at time. the word "yes". I think I cant.
