MT Transplant

Monday, March 19, 2012. While Rick was home recuperating from knee replacement, he decided that he needed a project to keep him busy. We had been looking at some new tile and new paint, as well a new sink and such. He did a great job! The wall color is a sage green and the dining room is a lighter shade. Beginning the project meant taking down a row of tiles that were up there as a back splash and getting the walls ready for the new tile. My kitchen was pretty "tore up" for awhile but well worth it.

MT Transplant: Christmas at Rockaway Beach, Oregon

http://www.kathyep-pdx.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-at-rockaway-beach-oregon.html

Monday, December 27, 2010. Christmas at Rockaway Beach, Oregon. The girls and I went to the beach ahead of everyone else and spent a day doing crafts and cooking. The girls made cards and we baked cookies and party mix. When evening came, we discovered that we didn't have much heat in the house so found blankets and curled up and watched a movie. We were happy to see papa the next day so he could build us a fire. We did make a fast departure on Sunday when we watched the news and saw that they were predi...

MT Transplant: Clarity's visit to Portland in February 2012

http://www.kathyep-pdx.blogspot.com/2012/03/claritys-visit-to-portland-in-february.html

Monday, March 19, 2012. Clarity's visit to Portland in February 2012. While Clarity's mom went to Barrow to work, her daddy, Steve, and she came to Portland for a few days to visit. Clarity explaining to Gran why just one sucker a day isn't really a good rule. Playing with her new friends, mini rabbits and bears. She loved making up stories about them. Clarity showed Papa how to play games on Gran's Kindle. He was pretty impressed. Snack time - Love those strawberries. Taking the "world travelers" to the...

MT Transplant: My sister's visit and our trip to Newport

http://www.kathyep-pdx.blogspot.com/2010/08/my-sisters-visit-and-our-trip-to.html

Tuesday, August 17, 2010. My sister's visit and our trip to Newport. Karen went up up to the top of the lighthouse. I had done it once and didn't like the climb down so I just sucked up sun outside. This is a view of the stairs that go to the top. After the tide started to come back in, we looked behind us and our rock area was covering up already. We had a good time laughing about a sneaker wave and where we'd run to if one came - funny but serious, too. The seals and sea lions on the board walks in New...

MT Transplant: New flooring at the Partridge house

http://www.kathyep-pdx.blogspot.com/2010/10/new-flooring-at-partridge-house.html

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. New flooring at the Partridge house. This is the new cork floor that Rick and I laid in my craft room. I love it! It's so warm and soft and made the room look so great I had to then paint. I still have two walls to finish but had to get ready for my company so will get to it later. This is my accent wall in the family room. I love suns and have had fun finding new and different ones. I love the clock - it fits right in. October 28, 2010 at 9:21 AM. Feel free to visit my site ...

On Island Time: October 2009

http://susan-onislandtime.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 31, 2009. These slithering, wretched vipers have been tormenting me for the past week. Whenever we had a some what warm day they would bask in the sun right in front of my front door. I don't just dislike snakes, I hate them, they make my skin crawl and I think they should all be caught and killed. Colette is here for the weekend and when she was bringing her bags into the house the big one was right in front of the door and scared the heck out of her. Saturday, October 17, 2009. After ...

Sunday, April 25, 2010. Thirty years in the same house produces a lot of memories. Ken was 30 and I was 29 when we decided we would build a house. The optimism of youth! We had the house framed and enclosed, then we set out to finish it. Ken learned about plumbing, wiring, finishing and I learned to keep my mouth shut and do what he told me. That kind of partnership would never work now, I can no longer keep my mouth shut and he knows it. Ha Ha! Thursday, April 15, 2010. Some Great Diet Advice. Caelen an...

Thursday, September 9, 2010. Summer Recap *warning photo overload. Wow, another month has passed since my last post! Where has the summer gone? The time since I retired and moved to Billings has just flown by. These are some of the things we have been doing since we moved to Billings. Fun swimming in the kiddie pool in our backyard. The adults had fun in the hot tub, but nobody would allow me to take pictures. Fun at the mall. Fun at the Mustang baseball game. Fun at the Yellowstone County Fair. FEEDJIT ...

On Island Time: November 2010

http://susan-onislandtime.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 1, 2010. The last week of October was a busy one around here. Caelen's kindergarten class went to the pumpkin farm on Tuesday. They were short chaperones so grandma got "volunteered" to go with them. Caelen was excited for me to go with her so it was fun for me too, although it was probably the coldest day we have had this fall. Caelen in the corn maize. Luke checking out the finished product. Luke looks guilty after he broke the tail off the cat on his pumpkin. And finally, Halloween&#4...

On Island Time: December 2009

http://susan-onislandtime.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 19, 2009. Lexie spent the night with us last night so Ken bundled the girls up this morning and let them sled down the hill behind our house. The weather has been a lot warmer and most of the snow is gone, but there was still enough for them to have fun. Of course, the biggest kid of all had to join in the fun too. Colette and Ken decided there was still enough snow to make a pretty good snowman. When you don't rake your lawn in the fall though you get a lot of leaves in your snow.

On Island Time: January 2010

http://susan-onislandtime.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 21, 2010. Today we leave for Billings so I can get my hair cut and then tomorrow we board the plane for an early (6 a.m) flight to Florida. We will board the ship Saturday morning and then spend two glorious weeks in the Caribbean. I plan on taking lots of pictures so I will have plenty to blog about when I get home. I'll find room for them (Ken doesn't really need all those shirts). Wednesday, January 13, 2010. 7 Days until my vacation! 167 Days until retirement! And they can't come.

Wednesday, July 28, 2010. July or Why I Have Been To Busy to Blog. June 30 - I retired! And now that we made it almost through the month of July, I am loving not working. Getting to this point however, took a lot of work. First we got the Colstrip house ready to sell, but as you can see in the picture, we had a lot of help. Luke did a great job of stripping off the old wallpaper. We got moved into the new house with a lot of help from our wonderful kids and grandkids. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

On Island Time: Slieve League and more

http://susan-onislandtime.blogspot.com/2012/12/slieve-league-and-more.html

Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Slieve League and more. The cliffs of Slieve League are the highest sea cliffs in Europe, roughly 2000 feet from the Atlantic Ocean to the top of highest cliff. Higher than the cliffs of Moher, but not nearly as well known, Slieve League is located in a remote part of Donegal County. The scenery was spectacular. We parked the car in the parking area and walked up the trail to get the best views. Even Ken got into the spirit of things. Our final breakfast at Rossmore Manor bef...

http://susan-onislandtime.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 22, 2010. This is our neighborhood in Billings after the tornado and thunderstorm that went through the area Sunday afternoon. You can't see our house in the picture but we are 4 or 5 houses up from the house on the bottom left of picture. The lowest level of our home was flooded when the window well filled with water and then came through to the house. We just had the carpet laid on Friday afternoon and two days later we vacuumed up over 70 gallons of water. Labels: Our new neighborhood.

Tuesday, November 27, 2012. There has been too much going on the past few weeks to post the rest of our trip. I am going to try to get it done before it gets too hectic before Christmas. Clifden was such a fun place to visit and we knew our trip was winding down, but we still had the area around Donegal to explore before we headed back to Dublin and the end of this fantastic trip. There were several sites along the way that we wanted to explore before we arrive at the Rossmore Manor in Donegal. The ocean...

writing life

Monday, March 7, 2011. SPRING CLEANING YOUR MANUSCRIPT. At last month's writer’s meeting, before critique, a discussion rose on the proper use of the comma, a boring topic, indeed, and one, I must confess, I know little about. Notice all the commas? Anyone know if they are right? Use a comma after an introductorial adverbial clause. When it rains, I feel sad. Use a comma after an introductorial infinitive phrase. To get published, you must actually write something and submit it. Use a comma after a short...

Kathryn Quick -- Official Author Website

Welcome to my new cyber home. It’s so amazing that I may stay here, but that wouldn’t get any writing done, now would it? Writing has been in my blood since I got a #2 pencil and lined paper in Catholic School. Once I got a grip on the phonics thing, the Sisters of Saint Casmir’s couldn’t stop me. I wrote stories of angels every weekend, sliding the tales on. To their desks religiously (no pun intended) every Monday morning. Wonder if Sister Vienne still has one or two? Sorry, I digress.
