The setting may change, but the girl never will. Saturday, August 28, 2010. As you can obviously see, I finally updated my blog! Months of procrastination and confusion regarding HTML and CSS codes (for the computer illiterate, those are the codes that create "layouts" and design backgrounds for websites) finally pushed me to do what I should have done in the beginning. Go to Google. Life has been moving both extremely fast (college in four days! I'm glad to be back - Facebook just isn't the same. Design...

From 503 to 603 and Blogging. Tuesday, July 7, 2009. We're Getting A Sonic! As I was voyaging back from Boston last week,. Yes, Peabody is 30 minutes away from Portsmouth on a good day. Yes, I realize that's a very long way to drive for fast food. But I think I'll be making the journey very soon after it opens, and probably many times after that as well. Besides, its one more reason for people to visit :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What city do YOU think this picture was taken in?

From 503 to 603 and Blogging. Tuesday, July 21, 2009. This past weekend was filled with lots of exciting events. I checked out Cafe Espresso for the first time, biked into town to hang out at. Breaking New Grounds and saw another play in the late-night festival at Players Ring. But the most exciting part of all was Saturday night, when the guy and I went to Portsmouth's once-yearly Mediterranean extravaganza - the Saint Nicholas Greek Festival. Complete with Greek pastries (best baklava ever, anyone?

From 503 to 603 and Blogging. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Mass Pike, The T and Summer! First off, I do want to apologize. For not blogging in quite a while. Summer has arrived here in New England, with sunny days and tourists in Portsmouth. It did rain yesterday, but for the most part it is very warm and beautiful. I've recently begun commuting down to Boston, a choice which has opened me up to a whole slew of new experiences. Most recently, I made the mistake of getting. There'd be no contest. View my com...

From 503 to 603 and Blogging. Saturday, April 18, 2009. I've told this story a few times,. Trying to explain the differences in culture between my native Portland, OR and my adopted Portsmouth, NH. A co-worker of mine was talking with someone who works at Starbucks and I overheard her asking "You're a barista? I barged in, incredulous that someone living anywhere near a major city could not know what a barista is. Of course its baseball! How could you not know? Wednesday, April 15, 2009. I had the chance to show them around Portsmouth and the surrounding areas and to do lots of touristy things. One of the most fun things we did was the Portsmouth Harbor Cruise, an hour-long trip on the water out to Newcastle to see the lighthouses I blogged about a few months ago up close. It was truly. From 503 to 603 and Blogging. Monday, July 27, 2009. New England Nature Adventuring. The last weekend of July. Was full of adventuring,. More recently, we made a short trip to Burlington, VT, for a vacation. It was truly beautiful, but not as nice as Portsmouth. They have a much more expansive waterfront, though, and I took some pictures of the nice park they have created. Lots and lots of sailboats, because the lake is so calm in the summer. Today we rented a canoe and paddled around on Lake Pawtuckaway...

From 503 to 603 and Blogging. Sunday, May 10, 2009. What Happened to Spring? A few weeks ago I was warned by a New England native. That summer comes very quickly here. Its all snowy and below freezing one day, two weeks later its 80 degrees and the bugs are out. I knew it was coming, but it was still a shock to my system. It's pretty nice to have summer here so quickly and I'm very happy to see the snow gone, but this whole skipping spring thing has created a problem: I can't wear my jackets. Y favorite ...

Israeli Summer
An American law student's experiences interning in Tel Aviv. Monday, July 24, 2006. Still quite jet-lagged, but home in South Carolina after a night sleeping in the London airport, a couple of days in New York, and an afternoon of jet skiing on the lake in NC. It's so nice to be back and able to relax. Have been watching CNN a bit, but the American print media is a bit surprising- it honestly seems to be more pro-Israeli than the Israel media! Another argument I think is weak is: "Well, Israel's actions ...

My Great Japanese Adventure
My Great Japanese Adventure. Saturday, 25 April 2009. Following on from the update a couple of days ago. They just wander around at will, bothering tourists for fun and getting lots of pictures taken. Every few feet are stands where you can buy deer biscuits, and the deer go mental for them. My host mum bought some for me to feed to the deer, and within seconds I was surrounded by clamouring deer, some butting me with their heads (and in some cases horns! Thursday, 23 April 2009. No, it's erm, KaTie".

Friday, 22 June 2012. And follow it if you'd like! Hope you're all well! Tuesday, 8 May 2012. The nearer I get to heading back to the states, the more I realize how accustomed I've gotten to things in Spain that really are quite odd. It would take several posts to explain it all. For now, though, I'm going to tell you my jamón story, and that should give you a pretty good taste of it. No pun intended. (Dad, why did I inherit your cheesiness? It's lean, delicious, healthy. Fat on these pigs! To put a long...
