Artist, writer, gardener, traveller, teacher, learner, parent, aging gracefully with gusto. The 3-4 day holiday of Kurban Bayramı (Festival of Sacrifice) begins about 70 days after the end of Ramazan. A religious-based festival commemorating the sacrifice to God by Abraham (Ibrahim) of a ram in place of his son, it is meant to be a time of sharing. Strictly speaking, it offers the supreme opportunity for Muslims to practise charity, one of the five pillars of Islam. Hot-air balloons rise at dawn. I am Kö...
Katie Janyk: TRAVELS
http://www.katiejanyk.blogspot.com/p/travels.html
Artist, writer, gardener, traveller, teacher, learner, parent, aging gracefully with gusto. My 5th grade teacher introduced me to foreign lands. She travelled in the early sixties to Hawaii (still exotic then) and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula ( really. Exotic then). Miss Hasler's pictures of Mayan temples at Chichèn Itzà (at that time still partly hidden by the jungle) planted the seed: I knew. I would go there someday. Thanks for your visit. Artist, writer, gardener, traveller, teacher, learner, parent, aging gracefully with gusto. And, regardless of the seasons, there are the practicalities of everyday life…. I bet there’s no water! 8221; Sure enough, the tap runs dry. So no shower this morning. Guess I have to wait. But how long? There’s a good deal of chatter in the street at the moment. Everyone seems to be working. Inshallah, I’ll have my shower before the sun sets. Unless it clouds over. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Katie Janyk: It's My Life
http://www.katiejanyk.blogspot.com/p/its-all-about-me.html
Artist, writer, gardener, traveller, teacher, learner, parent, aging gracefully with gusto. As Life rolls relentlessly onward and I find myself well past the middle of it, I've decided it's time to indulge the writer in me - not with the usual letters to the editor or art exhibition proposals or other such purposeful endeavours, but for the pure joy of writing. I'm interested in everything. Here's hoping I can make everything interesting. Thanks for your visit. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 27 Oct - 3 Nov.
Katie Janyk: GARDEN DELIGHTS
http://www.katiejanyk.blogspot.com/p/garden-delights.html
Artist, writer, gardener, traveller, teacher, learner, parent, aging gracefully with gusto. The thing about dirt . I work with it (clay), and when I'm not doing that, I dig in it (my garden). So now my garden truly reflects who I am: I'm a flower girl! Through the Garden Gate. Thanks for your visit. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. 27 Oct - 3 Nov. Artist, writer, gardener, traveller, teacher, learner, parent, aging gracefully with gusto. Avanos Friends and Neighbours. After 13 years of visits to the ceramic-focused Kapadokyan town of Avanos, I have made many pretty amazing friends. Thought I’d share some of them. Ceramic artist Erdoğan Guleç owns the studio where I live and work while I’m in Turkey. His father and grandfather were both renowned Avanos potters. Ali Fuat Illeez is the best carpet seller in Turkey. Hakan has a large production potter...

Illustration, design &. I'm Katie Jarman, an illustrator and photographer. I live in the hills of Northern California with my husband and our dog. Before I ventured into the freelance design world, I worked as a photographer and illustrator for a prominent craft company. That was my intro into the blogging and crafting world. When I'm not working, you can find me grubbing around in the garden, or off on an adventure with people I love. I enjoy fresh cooking, art, live music, and enjoying nature.
