Kadiddlehopper: February 2015
http://katiekadiddlehopper.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
My adventures in domesticity. Can I help you find. Saturday, February 21, 2015. Honey, I Shrunk the Vogue 8379! So, I had this crazywonderful idea. Barbie sized patterns are great and all, but I was on the hunt for a specific thing, and the 1/6 scale pattern world just wasn't doing it. What I really wanted was the Vogue 8379. Wrap dress. But sized for my dolls. What is a sewist to do? Get a little creative! You know those pattern piece diagrams that are printed in the instructions? And she is much curvie...

My adventures in domesticity. Can I help you find. Monday, January 26, 2015. Patterns for Pirates Carefree Cardigan. On Thursday, Pattern for Pirates released a new pattern. Which I had the opportunity to test! And so I present the Carefree Cardigan. It is designed to be a semi-fitted, easy to wear topper that can bring some style to everyday, while remaining completely comfortable. The bands are a rayon terry from Mood. They're a bit heavier than the ponte, which gives the cardigan a nice drape. The ban...

My adventures in domesticity. Can I help you find. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Jalie 3461 - the Eleonore pull on pant. I haven't been buying many new patterns lately. My pattern stash is immense and it is starting to feel like I'm never going to make even half of them so getting new patterns seems a bit silly, but when Jalie announced that they were releasing a pull on pant for stretch wovens, I pre-ordered it immediately. The Eleonore pull on pant! They're super comfortable and so quick to sew up! Sewing, W...

My adventures in domesticity. Can I help you find. Monday, May 18, 2015. It's getting warmer, which means all the dresses! This fun pink printed ITY from FabricMart was begging to become a summer dress! I decided to try out a new pattern this time, although it isn't dramatically different in style from my usual favorites, it does have a few fun features. This is Vogue 8575. May 18, 2015 at 10:06 PM. My feet mentally hurt looking at your shoes, but they look great on you! This dress has such great style, ...

A Little About Me. Sewing, craftiness, baking… and a bit about me. May 3, 2012. The Month of May. 🙂 It will be fun though, I’m sure! Matt finished up the laminate flooring last week, and it looks AWESOME in here! Before, the carpet and linoleum lined up exactly with were the two trailers would have been joined together (we live in a double-wide trailer, in a community that is not a trailer park! So yay for home-ownership, and yay for property tax? It still looks great though! Now I just need to decorate!

Living the Spacious Life: February 2011

Thursday, February 10, 2011. Tutorial: Lazy Bubble Skirt. Thus, I give you: the lazy bubble skirt. I hesitate to say *easy* since one step is a little tricky but it's the laziest possible way I can think of to construct a cute, poofy skirt for a little girl from about 12m - 5T or so. Approx 1/2 yard of shell (main) fabric. Approx 1/2 yard of lining fabric. 1/2 yard of VERY soft and stretchy 1/4" elastic. I like knit elastic for this. For a stiffer elastic you might want to allow a little more. Step 2: Cu...

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. A pieced, quilted, fur blanket is decadent - even for me. I offer no apologizes for this. You see: it gets COLD. Up here on the mountain! I have always maintained that, given a choice, I prefer a cold climate to a hot one. Now, we all know why: so that I have a reason (I do try to be pragmatic! To sew, and wear, warm, fuzzy, soft, bulky and cuddly things. Sybarite that I am, I love texture - and plenty of it. Hence: this quilt. But then, I have never aspired to be typical.

Thursday, March 13, 2014. I have a confession to make: I never (actually: no longer) mark darts in any traditional way. There, I've said it - let the guilt of non-compliance and the fear of social reprisal set in. [You know that neither of those keep me up nights, don't you? 1) Fold back pattern tissue to edge of dart/pleat/tuck/fold/etc. and mark with dressmaker's chalk. Well, gee - that doesn't sound difficult, time-consuming, or potentially inaccurate at all, huh? And isn't genetics amazing? Marking (...

Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Here, Dear Readers, you get a chance to help a blogger, and novice quilt designer out. I have a pattern for a log cabin quilt that, owing to careful selection of fabric, and even more careful arrangement of blocks, makes a heart. {Awwwwwwwwww}. And, when I say, " per se. I mean: "not even close". I am now ready to choose the fabrics for the quilt. I've always wanted to render it in soft shades of greens (sage, mint, pistachio) and muted pinks, with the borders in ivory or cream.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Me v The Working World. I would consider myself somewhat employed. It's not an ideal position and it isn't full time and it doesn't even pay well, but.I can put it on my resume and it's more money than I was making yesterday. The kicker. In my eyes he needed to get back to work the day he was offered the job. In hindsight, I totally feel this. I want a week off to prepare for my impending employment. Maybe next time I shouldn't be so quick to judge, right? I finished the mei t...

Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Me v Biggest Sewing Adventure. I may have mentioned this before, but I have been commissioned to sew a boys suit for my nephew. Let me clarify- a gold suit for an almost-7 year old boy. I'm a bit nervous about it. I like to think I'm a decent seamstress, but making a suit may be beyond my capabilities. I'm going to give it the good 'ole college try though. This is the pattern I'm making:. Nowto get over my sickness and get started on this project. Monday, January 2, 2012.
Motion to Stitch: Me v. The Job Hunt

Monday, March 26, 2012. Me v The Job Hunt. I know I've written about this before and you probably don't really want to read about it anymore, as it's old news, but.I'm still looking for a job. And.this sucks. My temporary, part-time job has really turned into more full time, but I'm still in limbo with them and just not sure how things will shake out there. I like what I do, but is it what I want to do for the rest of my career? Time will tell.until then, I continue to job hunt.whomp, whomp, whomp.

Monday, February 13, 2012. Me v The Suit. So, I've started the suit and am about 75% of the way through. But.I'm frustrated as all get out and ready to quit. The collar and the zipper in the pants are killing me! Seriously, I just want to make it an elastic waistband and a collarless jacket- they're in, right? My nephew could start a trend! I will get it done. Hopefully I'll have pictures of him in it! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. There was an error in this gadget.

Saturday, July 28, 2012. Me v Not Blogging for a Long Time. Sorry about the hiatus. I've been busy and not in a blogging mood lately. Time for updates though:. It's nice to have someone who knows what I'm going through to talk to. So, that pretty much sums up my life over the last few months. Nothing too exciting. Highs and lows. Below are a few pictures of the 90th birthday and family reunion. The family climbing Harney Peak, highest point east of the Rocky Mountains until you reach the Pyrenees.

You order the plane tickets, you book the hotel and you do it yourself. Doctors are going to help heal Grandma, it’s up to them. If I decide I want to move back to W...The path I’m ...

My adventures in domesticity. Can I help you find. Monday, January 1, 2018. Wow, it's been a while since I've posted! Life has been crazy, but good. Starting with the reason for this dress! My sister was married at the end of November, in Scotland! And we got to be there! Naturally, some new dresses needed sewn. All my photos were taken in front of the Leith Registry House in Edinburgh, where my sister was married. It was a lovely venue! Those Finns know how to deal with the cold. We've had a surprisingl...

Thursday, October 22, 2009. AMATEURS VS. PROS. The Issue- Digital media put the tools of production into the hands of the everyday computer user making it incredibly easy to produce content. These creative skills used to be something that people worked to develop. Now it appears that amateurs can produce content of a fair standard within a relatively short period of time. Where does this leave 'professionals' and highly skilled artists? Digital media editing tools of production are now incredibly easy to...
