Discovering the world one step at a time. Leaving, not on a jet plane. Next Stop, The North Pole, I mean, Philly. December 24, 2013. In all reality, the train from Waterbury to Philadelphia isn’t quite that exciting, though I have to admit, it is much better than flying. After a cancellation due to the ice storm and a slight delay the next day, I finally made it on the train to Pennsylvania this morning, suitcase, laptop and fiddle in tow. Feed for this Entry. Christmas past | Kat Tracks

Discovering the world one step at a time. Next Stop, The North Pole, I mean, Philly. The long journey home. December 26, 2013. I may have grown out of thinking a heavy man with a white beard flying around on a sleigh in the middle of the night with magic reindeer, actually exists. But, I have to admit, I still believe in the magic of Christmas and am witness to it every year if not every day. Responses to “Christmas past”. Feed for this Entry. December 26, 2013 at 10:28 pm. Mastering the bow | Session Obsession

Irish Sessions in VT. Though the bow doesn’t look like much, you simply can’t play the fiddle without it. The bow is the rhythm. The bow is what makes the fiddle sing. And bowing is probably the hardest thing to learn when it comes to playing the fiddle. One of the most passionate players I know is Irish fiddler, Martin Hayes. Martin Hayes didn’t become this good overnight, however. This is a man who has been playing and practicing his whole life. I was lucky enough to take a workshop with ...It makes me...

Discovering the world one step at a time. Next Stop, The North Pole, I mean, Philly. Leaving, not on a jet plane. December 22, 2013. Many years later here I am in Vermont and though I don’t live that close to the train tracks, I do hear the train as it passes through my little town. And every time I hear it whistle it makes me smile. For some reason the sound of it is soothing and reminds me of my childhood. I’ll keep you posted on my journey. Happy holidays and travel safe! Discovering the world one step at a time. The long journey home. December 27, 2013. Someone once said “the key to a long life is going to bed the same day you woke up.” I’m wondering though if by. They meant 12 hours or 24, and if they have ever been on vacation. This morning we were up at 5am to catch the 7am train out of Lancaster, PA to Philly and then from Philly to Vermont. Did you know it’s dark at 5am? Here’s what I woke up to:. Even though the journey is long, I do have to say, I enjoyed taking t...

Discovering the world one step at a time. Ireland, a Musical Journey for the Books. Leaving, not on a jet plane. July 28, 2013. As you might guess, I made it safely across the pond. Arrived in one piece and even slept on the plane despite the fact that I had the back middle row and middle seat. It was most likely the worst seat on the plane and yet I actually fell asleep sitting up which made the 7-hour journey seem painless. To hear more details of my musical journey check out Session Obsession. You are...
