Talk story from Camp 4 Kauai, Hawai. I remember waiting for the train. Hear the engine and cars going over the tracks, and smelling the smoke and sugar cane as the train went by. One of our past times was to put some nails on the track so that they would be flattened when the wheels ran over them, and we had the makings of a knife. TALK STORY FROM CAMP 4 KAUAI. Of the games we played, including football, were at a widening of the road next to the neighborhood store, and the barbershop. Our football games were played with a ball made from old rags to resemble a football. This was also where we had a snack, saving lunch for the park further up the road on the way to Kalalau Lookout. The drive probably took more than two hours because of all the curves, and going uphill , but this was one of my favorite trips growing up on Kauai.
