May 23, 2013. My favorite day in Costa Rica. Involved a jungle right next to the beach, pitchers of sangria and monkeys. The four of us set out on an adventure. We walked beyond the beaches of Puerto Viejo. And into the jungle. The beach came right up to the edge of the trees and the seaspray lingered above the waves. What nobody told us is, is that you will need cash. And I mean everything you want to pay including the hotels will need to be paid in cash. The hotels/hostels/B&Bs will give you lower prices than advertised but only for cash payment. Eg the one hotel we stayed in was for 135$ but we got it for 75$ in cash.
