A Tribute to Bravery. I wrote this sequence while I was researching and writing my senior thesis paper. I wrote about the First Force Recon Company in Vietnam and these poems were inspired by the experiences that I read and listened to from members of this elite group of Marines. A Tribute to Bravery. Bravery isn’t what is needed. To kill a fellow human being. It is trying to preserve life. But in the end doing what is needed. Worn thread bare fabric of a well known flag. Just hangs there, lifeless.
