Kayla in Kenya

Wednesday, June 9, 2010. The Long Journey Up and the Long Journey Home… Kenya Week 35: May 30- June 5. There’s something magical about watching the morning sun tiptoe its way over the horizon from the top of a 15,000 foot mountain. It had taken us three days of grueling climbing to reach the summit of Mt. Kenya. In a powerful way, climbing Mt. Kenya is a perfect metaphor for my eight months in this crazy country. Something not to be missed. A challenge worth the struggle. An adventure few could claim.

http://kaylainkenya.blogspot.com/2010/06/adventures-of-lifetime-kenya-and-uganda.html

Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Adventures of a Lifetime …Kenya (and Uganda) Week 34: May 23-May 29. After spending eight months in tiny little Karungu, I wanted to travel a bit through East Africa before heading home. There’s too much beauty in this part of the world to miss! So Van and I spent the week heading from one adventure to the next on wonderful Kenyan and Ugandan public transportation. Below are my High’s and Low’s for Week 34- my second to last week in Kenya. But that’s Africa right? Sunday, May 23.

Kayla in Kenya: August 2009

http://kaylainkenya.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 22, 2009. The past few days have been a flurry of excitement as the details are all falling into place. I've officially met my fundraising goal. Thank you to all of you who so generously donated. Words cannot describe my gratitude. I bought my plane ticket for training in Newark, New Jersey. I arrive in Newark at 2:20 pm on September 28, 2009. CMMB sent us our official flight itinerary! I sent my Visa application, passport photos (which turned out surprisingly not bad! Kayla in Kenya: April 2010

http://kaylainkenya.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, April 24, 2010. My name is Kayla Bronder and I have Jiggers.Kenya Week 29: April 18-April 24. At first I thought it was Poison Ivy. The red, swollen, itchy skin reminded me of my almost yearly encounters with that cursed plant back home. But how could I get Poison Ivy only on the tip of my left big toe and my right second toe? That’s weird. But it really itches. And the skin is pretty red. Hmmm.well whatever it is, I’m sure it will go away in a few days. It can’t be. Right alongside embarrassme...

Kayla in Kenya: Something of a Silver Lining...Kenya Week 30: April 25- May 1

http://kaylainkenya.blogspot.com/2010/05/something-of-silver-liningkenya-week-30.html

Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Something of a Silver Lining.Kenya Week 30: April 25- May 1. The rains throughout Kenya continue pouring. I'm continually frustrated by the dark clouds and muddy roads. I cringe everytime we have to change our plans and postpone our activities. Yet the clouds that frustrate me bring joy to most Kenyans: the farmers rejoice as their crops - the well being of their families- grow and green. Will we have enough funds to buy the cement we promised for Not Primary School, after the com...

Kayla in Kenya: The OTHER Kenya…Kenya Week 31: May 2 - May 8

http://kaylainkenya.blogspot.com/2010/05/other-kenyakenya-week-31-may-2-may-8.html

Sunday, May 16, 2010. The OTHER Kenya…Kenya Week 31: May 2 - May 8. Some experiences defy description. Being surrounded by over 200 grazing elephants slowly migrating their way across East Africa is exactly one of those experiences. This week I bid a quick goodbye to Karungu to experience the other side of Kenya: the breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife that most people only watch on the Discovery Channel or read about in National Geographic. I shared the sights and the soreness with. After 8 ho...

Kayla in England | A college girl's adventures in London

A college girl's adventures in London. Kayla in Michigan: May 31, 2011. May 31, 2011. Instead of just going to sleep like I should have, I stayed up to try and unpack as much as I could. I ended up just moving things out of my suitcases into heaps on the floor. I have a lot to do today…. I’m happy to be home, but there’s this feeling of sadness hanging over me that I may never see what I saw on this trip ever again. From → In Michigan. Thoughts on Leaving: May 30, 2011 —– Day 22. Thursday, January 24, 2013. It's sad to me that I have to do this, but because of certain ongoing situations, this blog is going private. A great WordPress.com site. Aventura en Guatemala, 2012. 8220;But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. The body of Christ when you are amongst people who truly love God and the fellowship that is created has got to be the second most beautiful thing that can be experienced on this earth (with receving salvation as being the first). Italy Adventure

I spent almost 5 months living and studying in a country that I fell hopelessly, desperately in love with. Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Edited photos of Orvieto. Stumbled across this while I was looking through photos I have from a road trip to Sienna with some friends. We stoped in Orvieto on the way and I snapped this as we were walking to the wine shop Stefano wanted to visit. After some editing I’ve realized how wonderful a photo it turned out to be :). I miss Italian streets. How do you say harmonica?

Kayla's Adventures in Madagascar: DreamWorks doesn't have a clue. A girl. A passion. A calling she couldn't escape. Friday, May 29, 2015. How confused must a person be to know and believe in the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ and still seem to outright oppose that sacrifice through their actions? 8221; They hold on to the idea of a path through ancestors as well as Christ because two paths are better than one, right? Kayla's notes from Panama. Sunday, April 11, 2010. Final Months in Barrigon. I am slowly wrapping up my work in Barrigon. The Healthy Homes Initiative has progressed with only minor set-backs.
