VE9QRP: April 2010
http://ve9qrp.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Projects in ham radio, programming, robotics and any combination thereof. Monday, April 19, 2010. The performance of my 435 MHz AA2RX lindenblad has not been quite as good as the simple vertical that it replaced, leading me to take the assembly down and debug it. I dont have an antenna analyzer, so I relied on a good ole 70cm SWR and power meter with a two-carbon-resistor 5w dummy load. Links to this post. Friday, April 16, 2010. Satpack hardware part 2. VE9QRP: December 2010
http://ve9qrp.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Projects in ham radio, programming, robotics and any combination thereof. Friday, December 10, 2010. More on the TH-D72 USB Port. The TH-D72 USB port is configured as a CDC device, using the CP2102 USB UART. Bridge. On Windows, presumably you should use the drivers provided by Kenwood. I accessed the port on my Ubunutu 10.04 desktop just by using /dev/tty.USB0, which popped open when I connected the device. CP2102 support evidently is built into recent kernels. Links to this post. In addition, if we want...

Projects in ham radio, programming, robotics and any combination thereof. Friday, January 21, 2011. Here's the video of the ZL3IN c2qso.sh contact. Remember, this is just raw UDP packets over the internet, with no error correction, and you're hearing the Codec2 audio just as it was transmitted in the conversation. Links to this post. Monday, January 17, 2011. Codec2 QSO With ZL3IN. His side of the conversation encoded in Codec2 is available here. You can get my side here. Details and a video will follow.

VE9QRP: February 2012
http://ve9qrp.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Projects in ham radio, programming, robotics and any combination thereof. Saturday, February 25, 2012. NJQRP Chat with the Designers. Sessions with N2APB and N2CX are an absolute goldmine of information about HF design for the amateur. There's a good mix of analog and DSP. My only gripe is that there doesn't appear to be a podcast feed, so I had to set up a 'virtual' feed in Doggcatcher so that it would queue these. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Projects in ham radio, programming, robotics and any combination thereof. Monday, January 17, 2011. Codec2 QSO With ZL3IN. Over the weekend I had a half-hour conversation with Paul, ZL3IN, using Codec2. Paul corrected an error in the script I've published, and we were thus able to hear each other. His side of the conversation encoded in Codec2 is available here. You can get my side here. I've also mixed the two into a wav file. Details and a video will follow. VE9QRP: Codec2 Call Testing Service
http://ve9qrp.blogspot.com/2011/01/codec2-call-testing-service.html
Projects in ham radio, programming, robotics and any combination thereof. Monday, January 17, 2011. Codec2 Call Testing Service. If I haven't been using Skype for a while, I check that everything is working properly using their 'Call Testing Service'. This service tells you to record a message, then plays it back. Thinking that this would be great for testing a codec2-over-udp setup, I’ve been playing with a similar service, using this script:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Fund the Next AMSAT Birds.

The QSO with Paul, ZL3IN, has garnered quite a bit of attention, with very positive reviews of the state of Codec2 and the spirit of David's project in general.
