Team Goolsby: November 2013

Monday, November 25, 2013. Five months into this adoption and it's more obvious each day that adoption is messy. And hard. And why wouldn't it be? At its core is great loss. It impacts all it touches. A family member was in the hospital recently and I felt like I could get a tangible view of what Caroline is going through emotionally. Let me be clear. My daughter is not wreckage. She is the daughter of a King, a child perfectly made in the image of God. What has happened to her and the trauma...But God&#...

Team Goolsby: October 2013

Friday, October 11, 2013. I've been all over the map the past couple of weeks. Really, not just the past couple of weeks. Since we started homeschooling, I've been struggling with the feeling that it's not enough for Harris. Academically, I know his needs are met. I really enjoy watching them both learn and seeing them "get" something is rewarding. It's fun! I've researched every single school option under the sun. There are certainly days when I would love to do that. Especially because the past cou...

Monday, September 8, 2014. Walker, you are finally 5! You had to fill out a little form for school and when I asked you how old you were you said, 'I am STILLLLLL four.' You are so excited to turn five! I think this is the first year you've understood the significance of a birthday. Last year, you got excited about presents but this year you now understand that it signifies something with age, too. Sometimes you will pinch my cheek and say, 'You are the sweetest thing! And your 'boy purse'. Now that you ...

Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Everyone is bobbing their head now, right? Baby don't hurt me. Through tears, I answered no, not yet. Our relationship is deepening but not yet. Mamas, doing something purely for your child doesn't mean you love them less. It means you are putting your own agenda aside to love them in a way they can receive. So What is a mother's love. A mother would die for her children, anytime, anywhere. Would I do that for Caroline? We just met 18 months ago! I want her in our family.

Team Goolsby: Life is never dull
http://jillgoolsby.blogspot.com/2015/06/life-is-never-dull.html
Friday, June 26, 2015. Life is never dull. On Father's Day last Sunday we headed for the vacation we'd been looking forward to for months! Walker didn't pass his swim test and was very upset about having to wear floaties so his counselor put some on too. I love this place and these people. The morning sessions the kids had bible study and then did some of the camp things, different things each day. Hayes got to ride one day. He went swimming. This actually is him smiling, despite how it looks. This is ab...

Team Goolsby: March 2014

Friday, March 7, 2014. He did tell me today that he misses getting to play in his room, so maybe not. Also, Harris has been playing football. I knew the temperature was supposed to drop that day but I had no idea how much! It was muggy and warm the last time I checked and. Was in the low 40's and windy by the time we got there! Harris and Caroline were rock stars and neither one complained one time. Bless their hearts. Soooo, update here. Caroline started school this week too. Was it a control issue?

Thursday, January 16, 2014. Yet another new journey. Walker was diagnosed with autism. Before you read any farther, know that this is a HUGE relief! We've been looking for answers to know how to help him and we are on the way to getting them now. This is good news for our family. Like Rainman. But his challenges are nonetheless significant though they are not as obvious. He's going to be fine. However, we pursued a diagnosis because it opens doors for him to get help. I wrote a blog post. CS Lewis said, ".

Friday, September 20, 2013. We're still here, all adjusting to what life looks like as a family of 6. Having a girl around has broadened the boys' horizons. Caroline is so enthusiastic about her purse that Walker went through a stage of carrying a "purse" too. That is some decorative metal thing from my bathroom. Harris wants to be involved in anything happening, so he learned a new skill too. Hayes just wants to do everything the big kids do. Dress up, wash his hands, maybe even both at the same time.
