I was invited to Peace Corps/Honduras in May, 2011. I left with my fellow trainees (a group of 15) on Wednesday, July 6. We will train for 3 months and then be sworn in as Volunteers to continue our service for 2 years. Tuesday, December 20, 2011. The Nacimiento is DONE! I figured I could just write a separate post for my host-grandparent's Nativity scene. It is beyond what I imagined it could ever be! Saturday, July 30, 2011. Running in the mountains. is beautiful. We all ran/walked back together and decided maybe this would be a Saturday tradition. Sunday, August 21, 2011. Volunteer Visit, Day 4. Explaining the rules of the dinamica Elephant, Rabbit, Giraffe. In Spanish of course. Considering it was a big class of high school teenagers, they participated well. Stacie drinking water from a bag. In the restaurant Cebolla's. A small, cramped street in Santa Barbara. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. On Thursday, September 22, 2011, my fellow H-19 group members and I were sworn in as the newest Peace Corps Volunteers in Honduras! The following day a group photograph with an article was published in the paper, which made us all proud! Sarah, Emily, me, Kayla, and Maggie hanging out at the Peace Corps office before the ceremony. The 15 new volunteers with the counterparts, the Peace Corps Country Director, and the US Ambassador. Deandra, me, Michelle. It was very cute.

Monday, October 31, 2011. A bath from the hot springs. The hot water with steam rising up, very cool. We were both standing on a tiny rock and had to jump back over to solid land because everything that appears yellow is hot sponge. A chunk of natural sponge. The closer we got to the source, the hotter the water was. The water bubbling up from the ground. It was hard to catch the bubbles on camera, but you can see the ripples from the bubbles.
