Kansas City Gardening: Time to Plan

http://www.kcgardening.blogspot.com/2010/01/time-to-plan.html

Thoughts about gardening in Kansas City from the perspective of the common gardener. January 31, 2010. This winter of continual snow and endless gray days can be numbing to the soul but as I see February approaching, I am beginning to think about the garden and the lure that it always holds. Not really much to be done yet except to dream about the possibilities. I went to Family Tree Nursery. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Through the Lens Daily. A Refreshing Take on an Old Story.

Kansas City Gardening: Frustration

Thoughts about gardening in Kansas City from the perspective of the common gardener. July 3, 2009. Why are the periwinkles dying? I have some oriental lilies coming up but they have a long way to go. They were in the bargain bin so I am not sure what kind of show they will put on. Maybe not much until next year. July 29, 2009 at 4:49 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Through the Lens Daily. Thoughts about gardening in Kansas City from the perspective of the common gardener. March 27, 2012. So this spring is beautiful. I can't remember when I have seen the flowering trees bloom so profusely without a freeze. But all this early beauty begs the question, "What am I supposed to plant this year, and when? Carte Blanche: April 2012

http://carteblanchekc.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Things that happen to me. Monday, April 30, 2012. I tried to think of a clever title but nothing came to me. For record keeping sake, I am posting "before" pics of my four pots I planted. These are carefully planned, so we will track their progress to see if it does anybody than my usual random planting. This one has fuschia in it so not sure how that will do. Starting with already started caladiums:. I think this is the one I'm most excited about. Labels: around the house. Sunday, April 29, 2012. She l...

Carte Blanche: Alaska Day One: The Uneventful Day

http://carteblanchekc.blogspot.com/2012/09/alaska-day-one.html

Things that happen to me. Saturday, September 1, 2012. Alaska Day One: The Uneventful Day. Our story starts at the beginning. Unfortunately the beginning is boring but what are you gonna do? I entered my 49th state about 9:45 pm in time to find the sun just getting ready to set. We picked up our rental car and found our way to the Qupqugiaq Inn. That's really it. Told you day one was boring. Day two is better so stay tuned. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Alaska Day Six: Float Planes and Eisenhower.

Things that happen to me. Saturday, September 1, 2012. Alaska Day Three: Fall and Scenic Drives. The day started off at 4:30 when Frances woke up later than planned to look for the Northern Lights. Turns out she set her alarm for 12:30 pm instead of am She did not see them. She did get to see the sky starting to get light. After logging our names in the Aspen Haus guest book, we headed back to Denali National Park. After Wasilla, we noticed all the mountains that we weren't able to see the day before bec...

Carte Blanche: Alaska Day Four: Glaciers and Otters

http://carteblanchekc.blogspot.com/2012/09/alaska-day-four-glaciers-and-otters.html

Things that happen to me. Saturday, September 1, 2012. Alaska Day Four: Glaciers and Otters. Early Saturday morning, Frances drove to the north side of the city to watch for the lights but no luck. In the morning, she ran two miles, the last step of her training. Our first stop of the morning was Walmart again so Frances could get a watch for the race. We paid $5 to park in tiny Whittier, where the skies were beginning to be overcast again. We walked around and checked in for our glacier cruise. ...After...

http://carteblanchekc.blogspot.com/2012/09/alaska-day-six-post-race-hangover.html

Things that happen to me. Sunday, September 2, 2012. Alaska Day Six: Float Planes and Eisenhower. Monday morning we both managed to finally sleep in, our exertions of Sunday catching up with us. We lazily got up and got packed and ready to check out of the hotel. For the first time since arriving in Alaska, we had no car or hotel room to call home. Our next destination was Earthquake Park and we determined we could get back on the bus we got off and make it there, but there were about 30 minutes before t...

http://carteblanchekc.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Things that happen to me. Sunday, February 24, 2013. 24 Hours with Babycats. These two have been into everything this weekend. Yesterday, they set up a Rube Goldberg affair in the basement by knocking over a tub of scrap lumber which knocked over the ironing board which knocked over the drying rack complete with wet clothes. Good thing they are cute because they are trouble. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 24 Hours with Babycats. Through the Lens Daily. A Refreshing Take on an Old Story. The Game of Life.

Things that happen to me. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Beware of Armed Bees. Today at work I tried to look at party pics from Saturday night. [This is, of course, the first time I've ever done something non-work related while at work.]. Anyway, my efforts were thwarted because the website, http:/ www.shotbee.com. Was blocked by our security team. The best part was the blocked category it fell in: weapons. Go figure. Guess I'll look at those later. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Sunday, March 25, 2012. Things that happen to me. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. While many things Bailey does have been captured on this blog, and while she often has more adventures than Riley, she rarely allows herself to be photographed during these adventures so I don't have much to share. Nonetheless, I am one day late in recognizing Bailey's birthday, which was yesterday. Happy Birthday Bailey! Saturday, April 3, 2010. http://carteblanchekc.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Things that happen to me. Monday, November 8, 2010. I Am Ungrateful for this Gift. Well folks, it's been awhile since something happened worth reporting, but now it has! I have the day off today, and I enjoyed sleeping in a little bit. I woke up at my usual time when it was still dark and then fell back to sleep. When I woke up later after the sun was up, I noticed I had been sleeping next to a dead mouse. I was horrified and ran downstairs until I could figure out what to do with it. The Game of Life.
