FROM THE HEART: IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG SUMMER (June 2007)
http://parkplacememories.blogspot.com/2012/04/its-going-to-be-long-summer-june-2007.html
Items I've written to preserve the memory of the events. Wednesday, June 20, 2007. IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG SUMMER (June 2007). This is Sophia’s first week out of school for the summer. Dawn now drops her off here at 9:00 on her way to work. Brandon will be out on the 7th. It's going to be a long summer. Sophia arrived as expected this morning. It seems that she prefers to eat breakfast here. Apparently my Pop-Tarts taste better than the ones at their house. But almost immediately they came back out to sa...

A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Wednesday, November 23, 2011. November Weekend in San Francisco. It's been two years since Dawn and I visited Brett in San Francisco. The three of us try to meet somewhere each November to celebrate Dawn's and Brett's November birthdays, but last year he was in China. This year, however, Dawn and I, along with her boyfriend, Bob, and Brandon and Sophia flew to San Francisco for a long weekend celebration. Appetites satisfied, we rode a trolley down to Market and Powell...

PARK PLACE: April 2012

A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Wednesday, April 11, 2012. For as long as I can remember, I have chosen to keep my birth date closely held. It's not that I don't want anyone to know my age, because even my grandchildren know how old I am. (If they can't remember exactly, they just say I am "older than dirt"! It's simply the fact that everyone. Has a birth date, so to me, celebrating really isn't that special. What a celebration it was! Pam, one of the internet group, bakes as a hobby and she's good.

PARK PLACE: June 2013
http://kcp-parkplace.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Sunday, June 2, 2013. Brandon and Sophia (13 and 10) are out of school for the summer. I know from the experience of past years that they will be bored in a matter of days. While Dawn and Bob went out with friends the other evening, I took Brandon. Texting one another. Obviously he was focused on his. When we got home from dinner, they were to pack to spend the next five days at Matt's. Brandon was done in under 5 minutes. And his room was straightened up. ...She had a...

A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Tuesday, January 7, 2014. At an age where logic made sense to me, I remember hearing a quote attributed to Lewis Carroll:. The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get." That's how 2013 felt to me. Nothing was overwhelming, but there were very few times when I had time to be bored. The year making the decision to trim some of the bulk off my frame. There was no New Years Resolution - it was a statement of fact. A change in life style: eat healthy foods and exercise. Sophia c...

A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Sunday, June 19, 2011. Contemplating the Happy Dance. They were right. When I was unable to sleep well at night, I realized it was time. There was no hesitation because folks who have had or know of someone who's had total joint replacement (TJR) universally comment, "I'm sorry I waited so long." My date with the knife was June 10. I was in the hospital at 9:00, surgery started at 11:30 and was completed by 1:30. Let me say: when I woke up there was no joint pain.

PARK PLACE: July 2012
http://kcp-parkplace.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Early this year Dawn asked for any information I could give her so that she could begin building the Family Tree. She was curious, and the internet makes searching for historical information easier and easier. However, she lacked the time to sit for hours combing through records. So, with her permission, I took over the task. A week after mailing the letter, he called! He had tried to find me and my brothers but been unsuccessful. He didn't...

PARK PLACE: December 2011

A DIARY OF SORTS BEGINNING IN 2009. Tuesday, December 27, 2011. A Christmas to Remember. As Christmases go, I rank this one in 2011 as one of the best. Early in the evening Brandon began negotiating what time we'd get up in the morning. He started with 5:00 AM and got an emphatic NO. Then he moved to 5:30 and Bob compromised with 7:30. Brandon, 6:00; and Bob told him if he didn't stop, it'd be 9:00. So Brandon went to 6:30 and Bob, 9:30 with the added question, "You still want to do this? Sometime close ...

Posts written between 2000 and 2008. IT'S WINTER AND IT'S COLD! Sophia's third birthday was celebrated with a small group of children her age. Although the day was warm enough to require only light jackets, the day also signaled the unofficial beginning of winter for the family. Sophia in the leaves. Matt at the grill. She saw advertised on TV. And some things that weren't . like pink hair. For Sophia shopping was easy, if it was pink, she'd be sure to like it. The guest bedroom is on the ground level, a...
