Conservation Architecture

Since 2009 Rachel has held an RIAS Accreditation in Conservation Architecture. She has extensive experience in producing conservation statements, character area appraisals and undertaking restoration work on listed buildings, which combine reinstatement of original features and sympathetic contemporary interventions. Rachel spent a fascinating day going around Cumbernauld with performance artist Rachael Clerke, discussing the post war New Town Architecture as part of the research project for Beton Brute. Art Commissioning

Stranraer CACA

Over the last year Rachel has been working with Dumfries and Galloway Council on a variety of conservation projects including the Conservation Area Character Appraisal (CACA) for Stranraer. This has given her the opportunity to spend more time in the town, that she has come to know very well over the last 5 years, due to her previous involvement in the Castle Square redevelopment and Stranraer Waterfront Masterplan. Teaching

Since 2013/2014 academic year she has been External Examiner in Interior Design at Glasgow Caledonian University. From 2014 she has been a Flying Academic at Shanghai College of Fashion, part of Donghua University. There she runs two 5 week courses on Interior Fashion Design, which examines design of interior spaces relating to the Fashion Industry, such as catwalk shows, flagship stores and shop windows.
