keepsakefiber: November & December Crafting

http://www.keepsakefiber.blogspot.com/2014/01/november-december-crafting.html

Handspun yarns and and handwoven items. Tuesday, January 14, 2014. November and December Crafting. Let me catch you up on what has been happening with me at Keepsake Fibers. my hobby and passion. November brought an opportunity for me to get back to my loom and do some hand-weaving. It felt great to work with my hand-spun yarns to create a collection of scarves to be sold on consignment at Lupine Blossom Fiber Arts. Following the scarves, I wove a couple sets of kitchen towels. 50 shades of blue. This pu...

http://www.keepsakefiber.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Handspun yarns and and handwoven items. Saturday, March 3, 2012. From dog hair brushings. It all started with a shipment of Chow Chow fur . The colors were blended by lightly hand carding the dog fur into little batts. Single ply yarn was spun on a Reeves 24" Saxony wheel. And then plied using a Louet S15. The following post shows what was knit from this 2ply Chow Chow yarn. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). From dog hair brushings. Http:/ mizrebecky.blogspot.com. Handspun yarns and and handwoven items. Friday, August 22, 2014. Celebrate Earth Day any day. You can celebrate Earth Day. Any day by upcycling. I have a thing for saving unwanted items and remaking them into something useful. Here are a few of what I call my Earth Day creations. I turned my collection of plastic grocery bags into this handwoven rag rug. It makes a great liner for the trunk of my car. And my latest, from my husband's discarded undershirts. a knit rag rug for our little bathroom. I design...

http://www.keepsakefiber.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Handspun yarns and and handwoven items. Monday, October 28, 2013. I've been busy creating keepsakes other than handspun yarns. It started with a quilted bad and quilt for a new baby. Is made from the scraps of many of my sewing projects. Another use for my scraps. Is this a scented cold/hot bag. It can be kept in the freezer for a cold pack or heated in the microwave for 1 minute for a heating pad. I continued to use scrap and make more with the following sewing projects. Additional quilted bags for sale.

Friday, April 15, 2011. Captain said "Bring out your Tar! Not only tar, but also varnish, paint. Caulking, mother’s polish. Hot water and elbow grease… all necessary ingredients in getting the Dark and Stormy ready for another season on the water. Most of the boat crew spent a Saturday at the captain’s home with all the above and more to do just that, ready the boat for the 2011 season. Jen Parillo took some pictures to share of the day. A short break for lunch. Brendan and I started by cleaning the swiv...

Sunday, April 4, 2010. Total rant. living next to Norwich students sucks. I will Never, Never, Never! Move into a place again knowing college students are living next door. Please shoot me if I even consider it. Having an absentee landlord doesn't help the situation much either. I recall having a lot of fun in college, but i never recall being this rude and disrespectful of the neighbors. The trash is still where it was in November - only theres a lot more now - a good 15 or more bags of trash in the gar...

Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Fort de la Presentation in Ogdensburg, NY. July 23-24 2011, we made the trip up to Ogdensburg again. This year is different. Usually the 27th Inniskilling goes as land troops, but this year they were supporting Springfield, VT's celebration. So the Dark and Stormy crew brought the boat instead and we had a blast. Miz Rebecky's Adventures: Do you sleep in the tents?

http://mizrebecky.blogspot.com/2011/12/do-you-sleep-in-tents.html

Sunday, December 18, 2011. Do you sleep in the tents? Do you sleep in the tents? This is one of those questions reenactors are asked quite often. This answer differs based on who answers, but I figure folks just want to know more about how reenacting works. Here are some of our answers. Am I sleeping in a tent tonight? Are most the tents occupied at night? Yes, most the tents have one or two people sleeping in them at night. Does every reenactor sleep in a tent at night? Labels: All about me. Accountant ...

Monday, October 3, 2011. Revolutionary War at Fort #4. This past weekend, I joined the 29th Regiment of Foot and Von Rediesel's German regiment at the Fort at number 4. Kayla joined us all dressed up for the first time, and we had several folks that daytripped for the event. Dispite the rain, both battles were held and an excellent time was had by all. Adding the Salt, pepper, Mustard and olive oil were all simple tasks. However adding the honey which had sat out over night was more of a challenge. Then ...

Sunday, December 6, 2009. So on moving day, I'll confess there was some wet wash that came with me - a few things that just didn't make it through the dryer when we packed the last things out. As we're moving boxes, trying to assemble the bed (it was trickier than it looked) and we were starting to turn our attention to Lunch. we had this laundry to finish doing. It was two days of trial and error and it suddenly hit me (DUH, i can be so clueless! Links to this post. Labels: All about me.

http://mizrebecky.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 3, 2011. Questions reenactors often hear. 8220;Is that a real fire? 8230; yes it is. Ask us often enough and we just might give you a silly answer though. What I often wonder is, is the person asking if this is the type of fire that the soldiers would have? 8217; Well, we’re not given rations, so we often have more to cook. 8220;Are you going to eat that? 8220;Are you hot in that? Think its dumb so you’re not going to ask? Links to this post. French and Indian War. For God and Country.
