https://runawaylife.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/harrys-spring-run-off-8k
April 8, 2012 / elodie kaye. Harry’s Spring Run-Off 8K. What a magnificent day for a race. The sun glittered off Grenadier Pond, the winds were gentle, the temperature was a crisp 50ºF, as the race became heated the trees generously shaded us. I couldn’t have conjured a more charming stage to celebrate the marvel it is to be a runner in the spring. How It Went Down. Harry’s Spring Run-Off in Toronto. The course is run in High Park. Is within sight of the race tents. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Missing Out | runaway life
https://runawaylife.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/missing-out
April 8, 2011 / elodie kaye. It feels so right that I don’t seem to notice that race-shaped vacuum. The SBER 25K. On what I’m not sure, but it’s not a PR I’m thinking of. Maybe I’m missing the chance to see morning fog spill over the mountains in a slow-motion avalanche, while the sun climbs golden and benevolent over the sea. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). March 16, 2011 / elodie kaye. Last weekend with Greg. We took our time scrambling up, savoured our accomplishment at the overlook and began our descent. Red Lipstick Lady passed us again! This time we noticed her hiking boots, and serious calves. Scarlet and I exchanged significant glances; this Lady Who Lunches is a regular on these trails. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). April 23, 2012 / elodie kaye. Toronto Yonge Street 10K. The Toronto Yonge St. 10K. The day was cool, about 45ºF at race time, and cloudy, wind from the north as advertised. It was a chilly, raw morning, uncomfortable for dog walking, good for racing. I don’t have my excuses in a row for this one. The hamstring I almost-but-not-quite injured 3 weeks ago survived Harry’s 8K. Ride that one gear and don’t let up until the end. Romero Canyon Road | runaway life
https://runawaylife.wordpress.com/2011/03/31/romero-canyon-road
March 31, 2011 / elodie kaye. Imagine a convoy of trucks carrying potatoes spills one load every hundred meters or so, down a fire road in the Montecito mountains. Potatoes with corners. Made out of shale. That was Romero Road. There are new water crossings in places where I never even heard flow before, and the creek is running so strongly, its music followed me most of the way. The wind whistled a counterpoint, joined by the low hum of… swarms of killer bees? It was to be a modest test of my rib. My ri...

March 16, 2011 / elodie kaye. Last weekend with Greg. February 11, 2011 / elodie kaye. It was supposed to be a mountain trail run, but I wimped out. I’ve been tired, I didn’t get enough sleep, and for the first time in a long time, I can’t say I was galvanised by the thought of reaching for a summit to see what’s up there. I didn’t even feel much like moving my legs. February 6, 2011 / elodie kaye. January 30, 2011 / elodie kaye. January 17, 2011 / elodie kaye. I keep forgetting to run slow and easy.
