Kelley in China '09

Friday, March 20, 2009. Final day in Shanghai. Today was filled with sight-seeing and shopping. We went to the Old Town area of Shanghai, famous for its beautiful gardens and market with hundreds of vendors. When we arrived at the market, the streets were filled with thousands of tourists from all over the world. It was a bit overwhelming being surrounded by so many people. Our flight departs from Shanghai at 6:00 pm on Sunday, but we have to leave our hotel by 1:30 pm in order to make it on time. We sta...

Kelley in China '09: First full day in Hangzhou

http://www.kelleychina2009.blogspot.com/2009/03/first-full-day-in-hangzhou.html

Monday, March 16, 2009. First full day in Hangzhou. When the lecture concluded, a small group of Kelley students stayed behind to have dinner with Zhejiang students. The remaining students returned to the hotel, and many of them ventured out to the surrounding area to enjoy dinner and do some shopping. Kelley School of Business. March 16, 2009 at 5:13 AM. Kelley in China '09: Shanghai Stock Exchange and Nielsen

http://www.kelleychina2009.blogspot.com/2009/03/shanghai-stock-exchange-and-nielsen.html

Thursday, March 19, 2009. Shanghai Stock Exchange and Nielsen. Our Thursday started with a less-than-favorable breakfast in the Charms Hotel, which we anticipated based on online reviews of the hotel. The selection was limited to fried foods (fried potatoes, fried dumplings, fried noodles, fried eggs, spring rolls) and a variety of stale breads. Kelley School of Business. Kelley in China '09: Tuesday in Hangzhou, Wednesday in Shanghai

http://www.kelleychina2009.blogspot.com/2009/03/tuesday-in-hangzhou-wednesday-in.html

Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Tuesday in Hangzhou, Wednesday in Shanghai. Our final day in Hangzhou started with an unexpected detour - Zhejiang's School of Management Dean Wang had to attend a contract signing ceremony and could not lecture on the topic of entrepreneurship as had been planned. So the group boarded the bus and traveled a short distance to the National Tea Museum, where they were able to walk the beautiful grounds and view the intriguing exhibit on the history of the region. Kelley in China '09: Patiently waiting at O'Hare

Friday, March 13, 2009. Patiently waiting at O'Hare. The 14 hour international flight will hopefully offer a much needed opportunity to sleep, especially now that we will likely not make it to Hangzhou until late Saturday night. Kelley in China '09: Our arrival to Pu Dong Airport and travel to Hangzhou

http://www.kelleychina2009.blogspot.com/2009/03/our-arrival-to-pu-dong-airport-and.html

Sunday, March 15, 2009. Our arrival to Pu Dong Airport and travel to Hangzhou. After a four hour delay at O'Hare, the group boarded the plane for Shanghai, and nearly fourteen hours later arrived safely at the Pu Dong Airport. The massive facility was eerily quiet and devoid of the intense activity one would expect to find at an international airport; successful passage through immigration and customs was surprisingly easy and very fast. Kelley in China 2010: More Hangzhou Videos

http://kelleychina2010.blogspot.com/2010/05/more-hangzhou-videos.html

Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Here are some more videos from the long but fun day we had in Hangzhou on Tuesday, March 16. The first two are from our visit to Hefang Street, where Abhinav attracted a crowd and Stuart practiced his bargaining skills. Later that day, everyone visited West Lake. Alli took the video camera to document her group's boat trip to dinner. First we hear from Sam:. Kelley School of Business. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Kelley School of Business. Kelley in Korea 2010: The DeMilitarized Zone (DMZ)

http://kelleykorea2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/demilitarized-zone-dmz.html

Wednesday, March 17, 2010. The DeMilitarized Zone (DMZ). Here is a view from the observation deck of Seoul Tower. That leads us to today, Wednesday, March 17th. We started off the morning by heading north to the North Korea/South Korea border, oftentimes referred to as the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The DMZ is a 4km stretch of land (2km on the North Korea side and 2 km on the South Korea side) that is impassable and heavily guarded. Next, we headed to Dora Observatory, which is the northernmost observator...

http://kelleykorea2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/samsung-and-korean-folk-village.html

Friday, March 19, 2010. Samsung and the Korean Folk Village. One of the very unique benefits that Samsung offers its employees is the Samsung Summer Festival which takes place every June. The festival celebrates the 1 year anniversary of each new cohort of employees. As many as 10,000 employees participate in the 3-day long festival honoring the roughly 7,200 new hires. Kelley in Korea 2010: Trip to Asan, South Korea

http://kelleykorea2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/trip-to-asan-south-korea.html

Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Trip to Asan, South Korea. After our tour of the Hyundai plant, we made our way to the Onyang Korean Folk Museum. Along the way we drove past farmland that consisted of mostly rice and ginseng. Our tour guide informed us that we should not expect to see any farm animals (like cows, pigs, or chicken), because they are confined to barns at all times. Kelley School of Business. Kelley in Korea 2010: Our last day

http://kelleykorea2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/our-last-day.html

Saturday, March 20, 2010. It's our last day here in Seoul and what an adventure it has been. Seoul is simply an amazing city and the Korean people could not have been nicer. For as large of a city it is (12 million people), the streets and sidewalks are extremely clean and the only hint of smoggy or polluted air has been noticeable when there is a really heavy cloud cover. THANK YOU for your time and patience and for showing us what this great city has to offer. Kelley School of Business. Founded in 1920...

Kelley in Ghana 2010: Cape Coast: Cloth, Castles, and Coconut Grove

http://kelleyghana2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/cape-coast-cloth-castles-and-coconut.html

Friday, March 19, 2010. Cape Coast: Cloth, Castles, and Coconut Grove. This morning we rose and left Accra around 7:30 am and arrived at Cape Coast at 10:30am. First, we attended the Batik Workshop. And then the Elmina Castle. The slave dungeons were evocative and striking in every way; they smelled, looked, and felt like a different time. One of the main themes we heard at both castles was that it is important to visit and remember these sites. That way, it never happens again. Reflecting on the day,.

Kelley in Ghana 2010: Worth the Wait!

http://kelleyghana2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/worth-wait.html

Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Our first day in Ghana was amA.Z.I.N.G. We first went to the United Nations Population Fund. Or UNFPA - you're right, the acronym doesn't match the words). There, we learned about what efforts Ghana is focused on in terms of developing ways to support women and children. They focus on areas of education, health, and empowerment for families in Ghana. It was an enlightening experience. After exchanging our money, we had lunch at Frankie's. The highlight of the night (and the trip ...

Kelley in Ghana 2010: All Good Things...

http://kelleyghana2010.blogspot.com/2010/03/all-good-things.html

Saturday, March 20, 2010. Must come to an end. It's hard to believe, but tomorrow ends a fantastic week in Ghana. We had an incredible time! Today was no exception. We visited a fisherman's village. And saw how they catch, dry, and store fish. They use HUGE nets to catch the fish (the ropes for one net measure about 800 yards in total). During our time there, we got the chance to pull a net with the fishermen. Check it out! This was so amazing! Coming back like a Boomerang. Ask the students),. Founded in...

Kelley Cheng's Blog: Funk & Junk in architecture, art, design & life

Kelley Chengs Blog: Funk and Junk in architecture, art, design and life. Saturday, March 17, 2012. When you watch someone lying there just waiting and hoping to die. The only relief right now is sleeping. An eternal sleep is the only way out of her pain. As we were all leaving the hospital, mum insisted that she wanted to stay to pray for grandma. As everyone tried to persuade mum to leave and mum stubbornly wanted to stay, my dad asked her - are u going to pray for her to live or to die? I think it is v...

Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Friday night, March 19, most of us took a cruise on the Huangpu River, between The Bund and Pudong. The building and lights of Pudong are breathtaking. This last video had really bad wind noise, so I had to replace the audio with music. Hope you like it! This is the last post for the 2010 Kelley in China Blog. Thanks for following our trip. Be sure to check out the other Kelley blogs! Kelley School of Business. Andrew and Alli share stories from the taxi ride. Monday, May 24, 2010.

Fan I also love coffee and, when I do drink whiskey, I’ll always defer to Jameson’s. Thank you very much. So here’s a great libation, a little bit off the traditional St. Patrick’s Day menu, to help celebrate this most awesome Irish holiday. I discovered I was out of Bailey’s Irish Cream.
