Skippin' Town: Behold, Nature's Bounty! (of weeds)
http://skippintown.blogspot.com/2014/07/behold-natures-bounty-of-weeds.html
Living life the way we want. Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Behold, Nature's Bounty! The past few weeks have been extremely rainy here in H-town. It's kinda weird, because so much of the country is going through such a severe drought, and instead of us being in the middle of it (which Texas normally is), we've had several major rains with flooding. Craziness. These grew from the ground up after all the freezes we had this winter, and they're taller than I am now. We might have a small weed problem. Seriously, th...

Living life the way we want. Sunday, March 30, 2014. March Is Almost Over - Where Did It Go? Can you believe I'm actually blogging again! It's been a few weeks, and just to give you a few updates:. Noel's been working night shift, so we haven't seen much of each other lately, except on weekends! But he's between jobs just for this weekend, so we've had a nice time hanging out, getting some stuff done around the house, and going out for fantastic Indian food. Yum. Oying it so much! Our canna lilies are co...

Skippin' Town: August 2013
http://skippintown.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Living life the way we want. Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Sooooo.Bob Vila I Am Not. We had visitors a few weeks ago - Noel's daughter Katie and his sister Brittney:. We had a great visit - we went out to the Kemah boardwalk and took in some sun (and, needless to say in Houston in summer, humidity). And we got up early one morning to go to the zoo. However, I forgot to take pictures except for this one:. We also went to San Antonio. Next time any of you are in Texas, we'll go to San Antonio! Ok, so let me e...

Skippin' Town: April 2013
http://skippintown.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Living life the way we want. Sunday, April 28, 2013. The Long, Hard March to Nowhere. So today was the March of Dimes in Houston. Noel and I had planned to go do the 5 mile walk. We got up early early early this morning, got dressed, and headed out the door to meet up with some of my coworkers to carpool to the site of the walk. So we grumbled. I guess I should've checked my email earlier, but really? We knew we had to be there really early, and who is going to take time to check email that early? You ca...

Skippin' Town: February 2013
http://skippintown.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Living life the way we want. Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Happy Year of the Snake! Last weekend we celebrated the Chinese New Year (this year is the Year of the Snake - time to declutter and prepare for good business/finances! Now one thing that surprises people (particularly us) when first visiting Houston is how culturally diverse this city is! Since we have such a sizeable Chinese population here (we actually have TWO Chinatowns - an older and a newer! Since we missed the Dragon dances, we decided to...

Living life the way we want. Monday, May 12, 2014. But first, a garden update! The garden has shot up significantly within the past week. Must be all the fish smoothie fertilizer! Noel hates the smell of it. It's not my favorite either. But the tomatoes LOVE it. So here's a quick snapshot of it! Why from that angle, you ask? The cucumbers, squash, and sugar snap peas are already blooming, and we already have baby tomatoes on our plants. Yay! Won't be long now! But I finally put the quilt on the frame!

Skippin' Town: Monkeys & Baklava
http://skippintown.blogspot.com/2014/05/monkeys-baklava.html
Living life the way we want. Monday, May 26, 2014. The past few weeks have been busy ones! One of the coolest things about living in a major metropolitan area is the huge variety of cultural events and fun festivals. Last weekend we went to Houston's Greekfest at St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church ( http:/ houstongreekfest.com/. It was also a great introduction to Greek culture, and my travels to Greece years ago cemented my appreciation for it. I would LOVE to go back to Greece someday soon! I got anothe...
