A peek into our lives: loss, trials, blessings, and a whole lot of love and faith. After losing Brooklyn, we found that I have a balanced translocation- in other words, I'm a carrier for a rare form of Down Syndrome. Essentially, I have the normal amount of genetic material, but it's arranged differently. This causes no problems for me, except that it can be passed onto my children and cause problems if their DNA arranges in a different way. 15% of having a living child with Down Syndrome.

I wasn't planning on announcing quite yet, but my in-laws have been getting a lot of questions about whether I'm pregnant (this belly makes it pretty obvious) so we decided that Christmas would be a good time to let the news out officially. I feel like we're in a different phase of life now that the 'Newly Mormon Idalifornian' doesn't fit into anymore. Hopefully *hopefully* this blog will get to document future pregnancies and babies, and what it takes to get us there. We're not at that stage quite yet, but we should be in the not-too-distant future.
