materialistic: Stitch tutorial: Straight stitch, dot stitch, seeding, granitos and beetle stitch
http://kellyfletcher.blogspot.com/2014/07/stitch-tutorial-straight-stitch-dot.html
Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. Wednesday, 23 July 2014. Stitch tutorial: Straight stitch, dot stitch, seeding, granitos and beetle stitch. Straight stitch is probably the most basic embroidery stitch there is. But it evolves into a number of other stitches depending on how many times you stitch over the original and how you format a group of them. Straight stitch (single satin stitch, isolated satin stitch, seed stitch, spoke stitch, stroke stitch):. Dot stitch (double seed stitch, double back stitch):.
materialistic: Blackwork: Getting started
http://kellyfletcher.blogspot.com/2015/01/blackwork-getting-started.html
Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. Friday, 16 January 2015. I've always liked the monochrome look of traditional blackwork, stitched in black thread on white fabric, but have shied away from it fearing I would find it monotonous. Sonia Lucano's book, Blackwork: Fifty Simple Embroidery Projects in Traditional Black and White. White Aida fabric, loosely woven. DMC six-stranded cotton thread: black (310). Needle: embroidery, size 8. Design: Beetle by Sonia Lucano. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Feel fre...
materialistic: Stitch Directory
http://kellyfletcher.blogspot.com/p/stitch-directory.html
Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. Surface embroidery refers to any embroidery style in which the stitches are worked freely, rather than dictated by the weave of the cloth – there is no need to count threads or follow the grain of the material. It is sometimes referred to as free style or freehand embroidery. Crewelwork/Jacobean and creative surface embroidery are probably the most well known surface embroidery styles, along with Mountmellick. Back stitch – double. Back stitch – whipped (oversewn). Braid...
materialistic: More Anatomical embroidery patterns: a moth and a butterfly
http://kellyfletcher.blogspot.com/2015/08/more-anatomical-embroidery-patterns.html
Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. Saturday, 8 August 2015. More Anatomical embroidery patterns: a moth and a butterfly. I’ve had a rough idea of a moth on the backburner for a few years now – it lends itself really well to surface embroidery stitches and I knew from the start that the thorax had to be fluffy because of their textured, powdery bodies and wings. It gave me a good starting point for the rest of the textured stitching detail on the wings and feelers. The Brenton Blue butterfly. The two new p...
materialistic: Eye candy for stitchers
http://kellyfletcher.blogspot.com/2010/09/eye-candy-for-stitchers.html
Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. Sunday, 12 September 2010. Eye candy for stitchers. So my breath caught and my stomach did a little flip-flop when I discovered Merchant and Mills. Their notions are drool inducing. I know the packaging is playing with my emotions on a huge level, and that the goods themselves likely look the same as those I already have. But why have ordinary looking supplies when your stitching paraphernalia can look like this? Oh god sewing porn. 12 September 2010 at 15:34.

Practice, Prepare, Persevere, and Prevail! Monday, February 7, 2011. Hallow's Eve, Lisa Theriot. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? On Hallow's Eve, on moonlit night. On Samhaine, when the veil is thin. Between the worlds of dark and light. Dare you let a stranger in? Most folk beside their hearth will stay. The night when frost first chills the sod. When spirits walk, as some will say. An evil night to be abroad. But I was sat beside the fire. With shadows dancing on the floor. A knock came on my cottage door.

Kelly Fletcher Needlework Design. Saturday, 31 October 2015. So long. Moving to a new online home. I started Materialistic in April 2008 on a whim, knowing only that I wanted to share my passion for needlework and in particular hand embroidery. I've come a long way since then. The good news is that instead of blogging, I've begun sending out a monthly newsletter, which you can subscribe to and read past editions of in the letter archive. To make it easy for you to stay up to date with this news.) Oth...
