Journey to a Healthier Me. GYM is My Gym. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose - and you can pick your gym, too. GYM. Is my gym (formerly known as Body Solid) because I love the people, I love the atmosphere and I love the cleanliness. The people are encouraging and nice. If you happen to fall and roll on the floor as I've been known to do a few times, they laugh with you. The atmosphere is amazing. I just like being there, working out or not. Oh - they play cool music, too. :).

Journey to a Healthier Me. You've Got To Move It - Move It. Exercise - dreaded exercise. Ugh. I've learned lately that it's not that bad! I stopped "moving it" and suddenly found an extra 35 pounds hanging around. I used to take walks with a friend in the mornings, but got too busy with work and stopped. Big mistake! Now I do all kinds of stuff at GYM. I actually do more cardio at home with my treadmill and heart rate monitor, but their cardio machines are pretty dad-gum nice!

Journey to a Healthier Me. We All Gotta Eat! GYM also has a Nutritionist available as part of a whole health approach. I have had my initial meeting with Jill, giving her an idea of what I eat. I am SO excited to see what she comes up with for me. I also have to start eating more protein, especially since I'm building muscle with strength training. Of course I have to be difficult because I don't like peanut butter and not many beans. I can eat bean burritos, but haven't gone past that.

Journey to a Healthier Me. When I went into GYM, I had no idea what a heart rate monitor was. Their equipment is Polar brand, so that is the brand of monitors to use to talk to their cardio machines. You can use theirs, which I did at my body assessment, but then bought my own so I can sweat on my own and use it at home on the treadmill, on bike rides and walks. They wipe theirs down with sanitizing wipes between each person, of course. See more Polar Heart Rate Monitors here.

Journey to a Healthier Me. When I first started this journey, I was afraid the people at GYM were gonna kill me with cardio. Although my Polar Body Age was 46 and my actual age was only 36, the amount of cardio suggested was way less than I expected. They key to doing cardio is wearing a heart rate monitor. If I'm going to spend the time, I better be doing it right because I don't have a minute to waste. Read my Blog posts about Cardio.

It is bothering me a bit to transition from the "mid 30's" to the "late 30's.". On this new path, I will reverse some of the aging and then will age much slower. So instead I have decided on www.KellysJourney.com. Yes, it bothers me that it can't contain the apostrophe it needs to be grammatically correct, but I'm going to use it anyway. Journey to a Healthier Me. Thursday, September 16, 2010. Just Call Me Gumby. I got to stretch and bend (thank goodness no gas) in my first Yoga class at Body Solid this morning! It feels so good! I am surprisingly flexible - always have been for no apparent reason - so the Yoga instructor, Jane, was excited to call me her Gumby. Friday, 14 August 2015. OUTFIT POST KHAKI JUMPSUIT. If you are a regular on this blog you will know that I adore playsuits, they are easy to wear and style and can be dressed up or down.
