Summer in buenos aires, argentina. June 1, 2010. So today was Day 1 of my internship. I was told the first day is pretty simple for most people, they just give tours of the buildings and introduce the students to the staff. So I was hoping for the same experience. I don’t think so. So with my stomach full and my heart pounding, Kelsey and I wandered the streets until it was time to head our separate ways. Freedom, food, and finding the way. May 31, 2010. Then we had our first seminar class where we analy...

Summer in buenos aires, argentina. July 27, 2010. My purchases include a wallet, a wall hook thing, a bracelet, a purse and a necklace. It was absolutely freezing, so Kelsey, Erik and I decided to do some indoor shopping, but to no avail. We wandered through the mall and made our only purchases at Starbucks. After a 20-minute ordeal trying to get our drinks, we were all happy and ready to plan the night ahead. One Response to “weekend warriors.”. July 27, 2010 at 11:53 pm. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Summer in buenos aires, argentina. A weekend getaway: villa general belgrano. June 16, 2010. I think it’s safe to say this past week has been my favorite week in Buenos Aires so far. Throw a birthday party, obviously. I was in charge of the cake, so naturally I bought a few slices of Liber’s famous brownies with dulce de leche. Heaven in a cake, I promise. The next step? The bus ride home wasn’t as rough, until we pulled into the city at 7 am and realized we still had work and class. After a sleepy b...

Summer in buenos aires, argentina. I’m a Broadcast Journalism student from the University of Missouri. After 20 years of life as a Midwesterner, I have packed my bags and headed south for three months. And not just south, South America. Summer in buenos aires, argentina. July 26, 2010. To complete my internship and receive that ever so necessary passing grade, I need to complete a research project before leaving. So, naturally, I was informed about my project last Monday, a mere 11 days before departure. I am doing a 10-minute long radio story (in Spanish, please remember) about Misión Sueños Compartidos, or Mission Shared Dreams, a program linked to the Madres Association. Now what is Sueños Compartidos, exactly? Enter your comment here.

Summer in buenos aires, argentina. June 24, 2010. I guess that means they all heard the shout out to the University of Missouri. Again, the night was pretty typical but we split in two groups based on our dining preferences. Our group went to a great bar that overlooked Teatro Solis, a beautiful building only steps away from our hotel in the center of the city. Celebration on Ave. 18 de Julio. Punta Bellena in Punta del Este, Uruguay. One Response to “crossing borders: uruguay”. June 28, 2010 at 2:57 pm.

Summer in buenos aires, argentina. July 20, 2010. So the two week countdown has begun. And I don’t mean that in a good way. Granted, part of me is ready to come home and get back to life at Mizzou, but I’m guessing it’s going to really weird adjusting back to life in the US. Here are the pros and cons of leaving Buenos Aires:. It’s only 40 degrees in Argentina. And I don’t have a coat. It’s 100 degrees in St. Louis. Unlimited peanut butter, bagels, Taco Bell (well, maybe limited…) and pretzels. 8230;] Ar...

Summer in buenos aires, argentina. Buses, bodegas and bbq: mendoza. July 7, 2010. We spent the morning getting acclimated at the hostel, wandering town, seeing Brazil get upset and prepping for our bike ride. The night ended soon after when they brought out free tequila and the Americans celebrated the strike of midnight and the start of 4th of July. Yes) and then I got dinner with my dad and told him more about the details of my program. Photos courtesy of Kelsey Ibach. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. 2015 ...
