Articles and ideas by Stuart Parker. People Who Say They Are Voting Tory Based on the Economy Are Lying. If this election is about any one thing, it is about bigotry. Throughout the campaign, people who feel like supporting the Conservative Party of Canada have claimed that they are voting based on something called the economy. Over the past decade, it has become clear to me that everybody who says I am voting based on the economy is lying, either to themselves or to others. And so conservative movements...

Articles and ideas by Stuart Parker. American politics and culture is divided but describing that divide is tricky. Is it a cultural divide, an ideological divide. Here, I argue it’s an epistemological divide. People are fighting about how to decide what is and is not true. The Age of Authenticity – Part IV: Authenticity as National Reconciliation. For workshopping the theory over a series of lunches, especially his reminding me of the importance of Watergate. Next, here’s a recap:. Just as importantly, ...

Articles and ideas by Stuart Parker. Happy Tenth Anniversary, Battlestar Galactica. In 2009, I wrote an article on the representation of Mormon cosmology in the Ronald Moore re-make of the Battlestar Galactica TV series. I never got around to writing a second version of this article incorporating the revisions that were recommended to me in workshops and conferences in 2009 and 2010, nor a version incorporating the second half of the final season of the series.
