http://okemosparentsforschools.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Okemos Parents for Schools. Thursday, February 20, 2014. The Education Achievement Authority suffered a major setback Tuesday as the Michigan. Okemos Parents for Schools. Friday, March 21, 2014. A bill expanding the Education Achievement Authority passed the House yesterday on a largely party-line vote of 56-54. Although we haven't posted here a great deal about the fast-moving developments in this matter, we have emailed our list and our membership responded to speak out against this bill. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Final vote on EAA expansion. It's not clear where this stands in the Senate. We'll update as we learn more. There are two v...

Okemos Parents for Schools. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Mitchell Robinson - Pull the plug on standardized testing. As a parent, I sit down and talk to my children's teachers at least twice per year at parent-teacher conferences about their work in school, and receive regular updates about their academic, social and musical development. I check their homework, help them with projects and talk to them about their studies every day. I can check their grades online any time of the day or night. The only purpose...

Okemos Parents for Schools: House roads bill would cost OPS amost $1.9 million per year
http://okemosparentsforschools.blogspot.com/2014/12/house-roads-bill-would-cost-ops-amost.html
Okemos Parents for Schools. Wednesday, December 10, 2014. House roads bill would cost OPS amost $1.9 million per year. One of the issues with the most traction in this year's lame duck session of the Michigan legislature is funding road repair. That repair could come at a high price to schools. As we have previously reported, the House plan to fund road repair would shift the way gas is taxed in Michigan so that tax revenue would go into the general fund instead of the School Aid Fund. December 5, 2014.

Okemos Parents for Schools. Friday, December 5, 2014. Lame duck: funding roads by cutting schools. Two years ago a slew of radical education bills reared their heads in the lame duck legislative session- and it's happening again. The plan would convert the state's 19-cent per gallon gas tax to a wholesale version and gradually increase rates over four years. At the current wholesale price, gas taxes could top 40 cents by 2018. [. November 13, 2014. Fuel taxes are one of the state’s primary funding ...

http://okemosparentsforschools.blogspot.com/2013/05/changing-gas-tax-will-cost-k-12-500-per.html
Okemos Parents for Schools. Friday, May 3, 2013. Changing the Gas Tax Will Cost K-12 $500 Per Pupil. Structural Funding - Changing the Gas Tax. School funding has been caught up in Gov. Snyder's road proposal, and the House is considering measures which would take $750 million dollars per year out of the school aid fund. That comes out to about $500 per pupil which would be taken from public schools. This is an extremely significant number. This would do long-term damage to K-12 funding. Thursday, May 16.
