The Kenyan Finish Line: The Good and Bad of the Nairobi Marathon
http://kenyanfinishline.blogspot.com/2008/10/good-and-bad-of-nairobi-marathon.html
Sunday, October 26, 2008. The Good and Bad of the Nairobi Marathon. I just got back from the 2008 edition of the Nairobi Marathon and just wanted to post some initial thoughts. . New Course Record (Good). The winner (I'll have to track down the name later- it was hard to hear over the PA) set a new course record of 2:10:30-something. This was partly due to a new course which we can assume is faster since the old course record from last year was in the 2:15's. No Timer at Finish Line (Bad).
The Kenyan Finish Line: A Day at the Nairobi Marathon
http://kenyanfinishline.blogspot.com/2008/10/day-at-nairobi-marathon.html
Sunday, October 26, 2008. A Day at the Nairobi Marathon. Leave the house so that I make it to the starting line before the races kick off at 7am. I was tempted to sleep in a bit since a lot of events run on “African time” which means they don’t always start precisely on schedule, but I decide to err on the side of caution. After a half-hearted attempt to walk (only about 2 miles), I instead opt for a bus that cuts a mile off my commute. The half marathon kicks off and it ain’t pretty! I recognize and con...
The Kenyan Finish Line: Samson Kikwei Tuiyange- A Long Road to Victory
http://kenyanfinishline.blogspot.com/2008/10/samson-kikwei-tuiyange-long-road-to.html
Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Samson Kikwei Tuiyange- A Long Road to Victory. Although Kenya is known for producing large quantities of young running talent, there are also a few old guys and gals coming up through the ranks. Paul Tergat (39) ain't no spring chicken and fellow marathoners Catherine Ndereba (36) and Tegla Loroupe (35) are also closing in on the 40 year mark. Yet all are still competitive on the international marathon scene. But (apparently) Samuel kept at it and after completing a half-mar...
The Kenyan Finish Line: November 2008
http://kenyanfinishline.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 10, 2008. Kenya's Cross Country Series Kicks Off. Runners hoping for a fast dry course for the first installment of the x/c series were dissapointed with the muddy conditions in Machakos this past Saturday. Nicholas Kamakya (37:33) and Pauline Korikwiang 28:11) took the seniors races with Nicholas having an easier time of it- he beat the runner up by about half a minute. Pauline battled it out with Pascalia Chepkirui (28:17) for a seven second victory. Wednesday, November 5, 2008. A non-...
The Kenyan Finish Line: October 2008
http://kenyanfinishline.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Friendly Runners: Samuel Njuguna. So I was sitting in the Athletics Kenya waiting room when a young man struck up a conversation with me. Now normally I'd be my usual, introverted self and promptly snuff out the conversation, but since I have this blog to think about, I put on a smile and chatted him up. 160;By the time he got back on track, he was in 3rd place and had to settle for that at the finish line. Njuguna informed me that many of them train on the outskirts of Nair...

“Feel at home away from home” | Kenyan Food UAE
Feel at Home Away from Home. Rosecoco Brown Beans are normally found in their dried form , they are pale pink beans. Ugali is an East African dish (also sometimes called sima, sembe, or posho) of maize flour. Thankyoufor bringing in Maize Meal and Rosecoco Beans from Kenya- we are sick and tired of eating junk food. We are so grateful that we have the ‘real’ Maize Meal from Kenya- the East African region- we are not happy with Iwiza as the quality and taste is not the same. 7:00 am - 12:00 noon.
