Thursday, January 29, 2015. Tiger Population on the Up. The recent tiger census has registered a 30% increase in India’s tiger population in three years. In 2011 there were 1,706 tigers and in 2014 there were 2,226. The census is carried out every three years and in 2008 there were 1,411 so this is great news for India’s tigers as the numbers are falling in other parts of the world. Monday, January 12, 2015. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Postal Applications Still Allowed. During the recent changes to the visa process it was stated that postal applications would no longer be possible. However we have noticed on the High Commission’s website – FAQs that to the question – Can I submit a visa application through post/courier? They answer – ‘Yes’. They then say that this ‘will take longer (two weeks) and if there are any errors it would be returned. Prior to the new system all postal applications went to Hounslow.

Thursday, September 4, 2014. New Alcohol Regulations in Kerala. From 12 September 2014 the rules will become even more restricted. Only 5 star hotels can have a full licence (there are only around 20 five star hotels in the whole of Kerala). This means that many of our customers favourite hotels (because they are not five star) will no longer be able to offer a full range of drinks. Monday, December 22, 2014. Sundays no longer 'Dry'. We are very pleased to see that following the public outcry and lobbying by the tourist industry the Kerala Government have now made the sensible decision to review the new alcohol rules. Sundays are no longer ‘dry days’ and all 4 star as well as 5 star hotels can have a full licence if they want it. There is another hearing on 15 January 2015 which will decide on the fate of 3 star hotels. Tuesday, December 9, 2014. 1 January – closed.
